Ripple received an important institutional partnership on August 18. Jeonbuk Bank became the first local bank in South Korea to deploy Ripple Payments for cross-border remittances. However, this positive move frustrated many in the community, including Crypto Bitlord (@crypto_bitlord7). He acknowledged the news as "another good news for $XRP," then pointed out that despite the announcement, the asset's price fell below $1, adding: "I'm starting to hate this coin."
More good news from Ripple: native

At the same time, the market has pushed its price below $1-I'm starting to hate this coin. -- Crypto Bitlord (@crypto_bitlord7) August 18, 2026
Good news for XRP
Jeonbuk Bank serves import and export companies, IT start-ups and online content creators. These customers can now use cross-border settlement services, with settlement times ranging from seconds to minutes. The partnership replaces SWIFT transfers that take days and provides corporate customers with near-real-time, round-the-clock settlement. This is the third cooperation Ripple has reached in South Korea this year, having previously partnered with Kyobo Life Insurance and Kbank. Currently, Ripple has institutional partners in South Korea covering insurance, digital banking and local banks. XRP acts as a bridging asset in these transactions.
Frustration of long-term holders
The response of XRP holders was very candid. One commentator said he truly hated the currency, but he held too deep a position and had no choice but to hold and hope. Crypto Bitlord responded by saying that XRP "has everything on paper" and calling it "a dream coin," but then pointed out that too many holders had sold their positions. BankXRP, another prominent figure in the community, called for patience, acknowledging the difficulties of the current times, but encouraging holders to stay the course. Crypto Bitlord also refuted this. He questioned how long patience would last and asked whether the situation was "repeated over and over again."
Doubt and External Perspectives
One commentator believes that XRP's market value is overvalued compared to competing assets. Another commentator pointed to a significant pattern: bad news leads to sharp declines, while good news fails to produce a similar positive effect.
The community recently hit back on an interview with Ripple President Monica Long, in which she emphasized the company's 75+ global licenses and other partnerships. The core controversy is that none of this has promoted XRP price growth.
Disconnection continues
Crypto Bitlord accurately captures this sentiment. On the day Ripple announced its landmark local banking partnership, XRP was down 0.96%, at $0.99. Fundamentals are being built, but prices are not yet reflected. This is exactly the tension that XRP holders are currently facing.
