Dubai, United Arab Emirates, July 16, 2026

Bybit, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by transaction volume, officially launched a local operating platform in Indonesia after completing the majority acquisition of PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal (formerly NOBI). The move established Bybit Indonesia as a local compliance entity regulated by the Indonesian Financial Services Regulatory Authority (OJK).

This move reflects Bybit's "regulatory first" expansion strategy-entering new markets through local compliance structures, licensed entities and continuous communication with regulators. Indonesia is seen as a long-term strategic market for Bybit rather than a short-term growth opportunity.

In the early days of

's launch, Bybit Indonesia plans to launch the service in stages, opening more than 500 trading pairs in the first batch. The platform will employ institutional-level liquidity, market monitoring systems, and risk control measures that comply with local requirements and Bybit global standards. All new products or services in the future will strictly comply with relevant requirements and come with appropriate disclosure and consumer protection clauses.

Strengthen local governance and operational continuity

Bybit Indonesia is led by a local management team to ensure regulatory docking and market familiarity. The leadership includes Lawrence Samantha (CEO of Bybit Indonesia) and Dionisius Evan (Chief Operating Officer of Bybit Indonesia), both former senior management members of NOBI, and Steven Gotama (Chief Marketing Officer of Bybit Indonesia). The team will be responsible for daily operations, compliance enforcement, and coordination and communication with regulators and industry partners.

Lawrence Samantha, CEO of Bybit Indonesia, said:

"This acquisition allows us to combine Bybit's global capabilities with an experienced local team that understands the Indonesian market and regulatory environment. Our focus is on standardizing operations, clear communication, and providing a smooth transition for NOBI users. We will gradually launch products in accordance with OJK requirements and measure success by serving Indonesian users responsibly."

Ben Zhou, co-founder and CEO of

Bybit, said:

"Indonesia provides important opportunities for the digital asset industry, but sustainable growth can only be achieved through regulatory alignment and responsible operations. Bybit Indonesia embodies our commitment to constructively cooperate with local governments, respect national frameworks, and build a platform that prioritizes user protection and long-term market integrity."

Education will become a core component of Bybit Indonesia's strategy. The company will invest in localized learning programs, starting with Bybit Learn, to support users 'informed participation and responsible use of digital asset services. The goal is to combine international standards with local needs to help Indonesian users navigate the digital asset economy.
