Revolut users send US$5000 worth of Bitcoin to Satoshi Nakamoto's dormant wallet
Recently, a Bitcoin transfer of approximately US$5000 was sent from Revolut wallet to an address associated with the anonymous creator of Bitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto. Data compiled by blockchain data analysis platform Arkham shows that the receiving address belongs to the well-known Patoshi wallet cluster, which is widely believed to be related to Satoshi Nakamoto and early Bitcoin mining activities.
Patoshi wallet shows signs of activity
Due to the historical status of Patoshi wallet, this transfer quickly attracted attention in the cryptocurrency field. These addresses have been largely unused since the early days of the Bitcoin network and are believed to still hold more than 1.11 million bitcoins, or more than US$71 billion based on current market capitalisation.
According to Arkham, the sender first made several small test transactions and then sent the main transfer for 0.033 bitcoins (approximately US$2170 at the time). Including previous transactions, the total amount sent is approximately US$5000.
Since Bitcoin originated from Revolut's shared hot wallet, on-chain analysis cannot reveal the identity of the sender. Revolut is a global financial technology giant that serves millions of users, and its shared wallets pool funds from many customers to improve operational efficiency.
Mini Dictionary: Patoshi wallet cluster-a set of addresses associated with the earliest mined blocks of the Bitcoin blockchain. Many blockchain analysts believe that these wallets are controlled by Satoshi Nakamoto because their mining model and timing are highly consistent with the network foundation stage.
Wallet name| BTC holdings| Status
Patoshi Wallet Cluster| 1.11 million BTC|
other Nakamoto Satoshi associated wallets have not been used since the early days| varying amounts| Inactive
Analysts emphasize that the private key of the Patoshi cluster has never been used since Satoshi Nakamoto ceased public activities, which means that any newly received bitcoins may not be recovered unless the original private key is used again.
Speculation behind the transfer
Since transfers to Satoshi Nakamoto's address are extremely rare and often closely watched by the cryptocurrency community, speculation has been raging about the sender's intentions. One possibility is that the move is a symbolic tribute to Bitcoin's founders, similar to a $1.2 million transfer earlier this year.
Another theory is that this is to attract attention-any activity involving these dormant wallets will spark widespread interest among traders and analysts. In addition, it may also be that the sender made a mistake and mistakenly pasted the Patoshi cluster address in regular transactions.
Despite receiving funds, Patoshi's wallet itself has not moved; the bitcoins originally dug up never left these addresses. This continued inactivity makes the ultimate fate of Satoshi Nakamoto's Bitcoin position even more confusing.
The crypto community closely follows Patoshi wallets and points out that if any funds are transferred out of these addresses, it will have a significant impact on market sentiment and attract widespread industry attention.
Market Reaction and Continued Attention
The recent transfer of $5000 did not trigger Bitcoin network activity or price changes. Analysts pointed out that unless you see any transfer-out movements in Satoshi's associated wallet, such transfer-in transactions will only serve as a conversation topic for blockchain observers.
The vast majority of the approximately 1.11 million bitcoins held by Satoshi Nakamoto have not yet been spent, which continues to spark discussions about his identity and intentions. Major blockchain tracking platforms and traders regularly monitor these wallets for any signs of activity.
Although higher transfers have been made to Patoshi clusters in the past, the anonymity of this transfer further highlights the mystery of Bitcoin's creator and its sleeping wealth.
