BitMart announced the closure of its trading platform.

BitMart notified users on July 26, 2026 that it will stop operations in an orderly manner and will eventually be fully closed in early 2027. The exchange said that new user registration, recharge and new order functions will be gradually closed from now on, and all trading services will be stopped next month.

Official explanation on the closure

BitMart stated in its closure announcement that after evaluating operating conditions, market environment and future strategies, it decided to terminate the operation of the trading platform in an orderly manner. The exchange emphasized that the move was a permanent closure rather than a temporary suspension.

The shutdown process takes place in stages and does not take effect immediately. Starting from 01:30 (UTC) on July 26, 2026, new user registration, cryptocurrency and fiat recharge will be suspended, futures accounts will enter the lightening-only mode, and spot transactions will no longer accept new orders.

BitMart stated that all spot, futures and other trading services will cease from 01:00 (UTC) on August 26, 2026.

Closure Schedule

August 26, 2026, 01:00 (UTC)--Deadline for stopping all BitMart trading services.

The exchange plans to officially terminate the operation of the trading platform at 15:59 (UTC) on January 31, 2027. After that, a window period for account access and withdrawal applications will be reserved, and relevant procedures will need to be followed.

The closure was quite sudden. Just six days ago, in BitMart's first-half report released on July 20, management was still discussing business planning and did not reveal any signs of withdrawal.

Impact on Users

What users are most concerned about is the issue of withdrawal. BitMart stated that after the closure is closed on January 31, 2027, users can still log in to their accounts and submit withdrawal applications within a certain period of time, provided that relevant procedures are followed. New recharge channels for cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies are now closed.

Open positions face a hard deadline. According to a separate product notice, the day before the closure announcement was announced, BitMart stated that if users did not manually close positions, they would stop spot margin trading and force the positions to be closed at 02:00 (UTC) on July 26, 2026. The futures account is transferred to the delegation-only mode, which means that traders can only close positions and cannot open positions.

Users related to the United States have logged out first. A notice dated July 23, 2026 showed that BitMart has stopped accepting registrations from new users in the United States since May 2022 and requires relevant users to withdraw remaining digital assets before 23:59 (UTC) on August 8, 2026. This is part of the ongoing compliance review. Phased notices indicate that the closure is a gradual exit process rather than a single event.

Affected users should use BitMart's in-app support and official announcements to understand the specific withdrawal process corresponding to each deadline. This situation is similar to the recent exit incidents of other trading platforms. Whether users can successfully withdraw funds depends on whether the deadline is strictly adhered to.

Significance for the cryptocurrency market

BitMart is a well-known centralized exchange brand, and its own token price reflects the market impact. The trading price of the BMX token was approximately US$0.11, which fell by approximately 45% within 24 hours, the market value dropped to approximately US$38 million, and the transaction volume was approximately US$4 million.

The closure comes at a time when market caution is spreading. At the time of closure confirmation, the cryptocurrency fear and greed index was 26, which was in the "fear" range.

Exchange closures have exacerbated concerns about counterparty risk for centralized platforms, especially as regulatory pressure in the United States increases and lawmakers consider clearer rules. BitMart's exit from the U.S. market based on compliance requirements is a reflection of this overall tightening trend.

It is worth noting that there are currently no bankruptcy petitions, audited disclosures or regulatory statements to explain the reasons for the platform's complete shutdown. BitMart's notice only mentions strategic and operational status, rather than specific triggering events.
