Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto's classic forum remarks celebrated its 16th anniversary, with the price of Bitcoin hovering around US$64,300
Today marks the 16th anniversary of one of the most unforgettable remarks in cryptocurrency history. This sentence was posted by Bitcoin founder Satoshi Nakamoto on the Bitcointalk Forum. It first appeared in early discussions about Bitcoin's scalability and has now become a landmark motto in the digital asset community.
Satoshi Nakamoto's lasting influence
In July 2010, a Bitcoin developer named Satoshi Nakamoto interacted with Bitcointalk users and responded to questions about the actual usability of Bitcoin. One participant criticized the relatively slow confirmation of Bitcoin transactions, contrasting it against instant card payments in traditional retail scenarios.
Nakamoto argued that Bitcoin transactions can be completed faster with the help of third-party payment processors. He suggested that with appropriate integration, payment confirmation times could be shortened to 10 seconds or less, refuting the idea that Bitcoin is inherently slow.
"If you don't believe me, or don't understand, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry. "
This concluding comment came from a discussion post titled" Scalability and Transaction Speed "in 2010 and has since become a rallying cry for technology supporters when facing doubts from the traditional financial community.
From remote forum posts to global financial impact
At the time of Nakamoto's comments, Bitcoin was trading at about $0.07 and was maintained only by a small group of users and developers. The concept still faces widespread doubts, with Satoshi Nakamoto himself defending Bitcoin's design in online technology discussions. He is widely believed to be the pseudonym of the anonymous developer or team who wrote the Bitcoin white paper and launched the network in 2009.
In contrast, Bitcoin's status has undergone a huge transformation in 2026 and has been widely recognized. Bitcoin is currently legally traded on major exchanges and is recognized by governments and major institutions such as BlackRock and Morgan Stanley.
The total market value of cryptocurrencies has exceeded the trillion-dollar mark. Bitcoin hit a record high of more than $126,000 in 2025 and is currently priced at approximately $64,300. The scale of its adoption and investment is far beyond the early skepticism Satoshi Nakamoto faced in 2010.
Nakamoto's remarks emphasize an eternal truth about innovative technology: rather than convincing every skeptic, influential inventions often speak for themselves through their practical success and global influence.
