Tether and Fasanara Capital jointly launched a US$400 million stablecoin credit fund
Tether and London-based asset management firm Fasanara Capital jointly launched a private equity credit fund called StableFund, with an initial investment of US$400 million from the two companies. The fund will invest capital in short-term asset-backed loans to small and medium-sized enterprises and consumers around the world. Fasanara will manage these investments through its network of fintech lending platforms operating in more than 60 countries around the world.
The two companies plan to raise up to US$3 billion in additional funding from third-party institutional investors. Fasanara will serve as investment manager and will be responsible for selecting and overseeing the fund's credit strategy. Tether (USDT) will serve as initiator and adviser, responsible for identifying financing opportunities and managing the fund's stablecoin settlement infrastructure.
USDT, as the settlement backbone of the fund,
Tether will provide a channel connecting onshore and offshore markets and a treasury track to realize capital flows between markets. The infrastructure is designed to enable cross-border credit deployment faster than the capabilities of traditional banking systems. StableFund will directly embed USDT into the lending process of fintech platforms, reaching borrowers in more than 60 countries around the world.
Fasanara's existing investment portfolio covers SME loans, consumer credit, trade receivables and Supply Chain Finance. Currently, the company manages more than $6 billion in assets. Its fintech lending network will become the main channel for StableFund's capital deployment.
The fund operates under a perpetual structure, which means capital is recycled as short-term loans mature rather than locked in a fixed time frame. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the arrangement transformed the company's sponsorship network into a direct channel for capital to reach businesses and communities. Fasanara CEO Francesco Filia said the fund was established to improve the efficiency of cross-border credit markets.
Tether's investment landscape outside of stablecoins
Tether is building an extensive investment portfolio outside of its core stablecoin business. In the second quarter of 2026, the company achieved net income of approximately US$1.5 billion, mainly due to its holdings of U.S. Treasury bonds and repurchase agreements. As of the end of June 2026, Tether reported total assets of US$187.8 billion and a reserve buffer of US$4.11 billion.
Recent deals include an investment of US$20 million in Argentina's new bank Ualá, as well as positions in Mercado Bitcoin and Italian football club Juventus. In March 2026, Tether led a $50 million financing round for AI sleep technology company Eight Sleep. StableFund is the company's largest structured loan commitment disclosed to date.
