Bitcoin prices fell, but the market was still looking forward to a quarterly close.
Bitcoin experienced stronger selling pressure over the weekend, with prices falling significantly in the past day. Despite this short-term correction, there are signs that the leading cryptocurrency may still end the quarter with a positive performance, breaking its previous trend of two consecutive quarters of decline.
What does the recent price decline mean?
Bitcoin is currently trading at US$62,270, down 2.74% in the past 24 hours. The cryptocurrency's daily trading volume reaches US$34 billion, and its market value remains around US$1.25 trillion, highlighting Bitcoin's dominant position in digital assets even as the market continues to fluctuate.
According to global cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex, a new trend worthy of attention emerged this quarter. Since the beginning of the quarter, bitcoin prices have risen by a cumulative 7.47%, creating the conditions for ending two consecutive quarters of decline. However, Bitfinex also warned investors to be cautious because the market may not have fully stabilized.
Are traders adjusting positions?
The answer seems to be yes. Although spot market activity was an important reason for the recent decline, Bitcoin's derivatives trading volume has increased significantly. Derivatives trading volume surged 75.42% to US$51.27 billion, indicating a significant increase in activity among market participants.
In contrast, open interest in bitcoin futures fell slightly by 0.14% to US$47.09 billion. This means traders tend to reduce or liquidate leveraged positions rather than seek more exposure.

Successful breakthrough of this resistance may mean a shift in the market landscape and stimulate more bullish behavior.
Market participants are still closely watching whether Bitcoin has the ability to regain upward momentum after recent setbacks. Their focus is on key resistance areas and the risk environment for the overall market.
