Samsung takes an important step towards cryptocurrency: introduces stablecoin support into Samsung Wallet

At the recent Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung announced that its mobile wallet Samsung Wallet will support stablecoins such as USDC. The move means that digital dollars will enter the daily use of hundreds of millions of Galaxy device users.

New features announced by Samsung

The integration of stablecoins is part of Samsung's efforts to build wallets as a unified portal for payments, rewards and digital assets. Samsung describes the innovation as a "secure payment and reward experience." At present, the specific launch date of the stablecoin function has not yet been announced. Apart from the USDC, the official has not confirmed which other stablecoins will be supported, but there are strong signs that the USDC will be supported.

At the same time, Samsung also launched the Galaxy Card issued by Barclays Bank and running on the Visa network. This credit card offers a variety of cash back rewards to U.S. users. Previously, the cooperation between Samsung and Coinbase in 2025 has enabled millions of Galaxy users in the United States to use cryptocurrency services directly through their devices, laying an important foundation for the transformation of Samsung Wallet into a more comprehensive digital asset platform.

What it means for investors

For Circle, the company behind USDC, the partnership could strengthen its position ahead of a potential IPO or market event. However, regulatory frameworks for stablecoins are still being developed in many regions. Samsung will have to deal with different compliance requirements in its global market, which may result in the feature initially being limited to certain regions. Galaxy Card, which partnered with Barclays, is likely to be the first to be launched in the U.S. market.

The 2025 partnership with Coinbase laid the foundation for Samsung in crypto services, but stablecoin integration offers completely different possibilities. Having users buy Bitcoin through collaborative apps is one thing, but integrating digital dollar equivalents directly into the core wallet experience is another.
