Samsung is preparing to introduce stablecoins into Samsung wallets, marking one of the most important steps taken by mainstream smartphone manufacturers in the cryptocurrency space.
stablecoins are cryptocurrencies designed to maintain value stability and are usually pegged to fiat currencies such as the US dollar in a 1:1 ratio. Unlike Bitcoin or Ethereum, where prices can fluctuate sharply, stablecoins are designed to remain stable and are therefore more suitable for daily payments and transfers than for speculation.
The plan was announced at Samsung's annual Galaxy Unpacked launch event live on July 22. Samsung said at the meeting that it intends to integrate stablecoins directly into Samsung's wallet, coexisting with existing payment and reward functions.
Samsung Wallet is expected to go beyond cash and savings to include new forms of digital value including stablecoins. Samsung hopes to become one of the first mainstream mobile phone brands to natively integrate stablecoins into smartphones.
If the plan is implemented, Samsung will directly hand over the stablecoin function to hundreds of millions of Galaxy users around the world, without users having to download cryptocurrency apps or register exchange accounts separately.
Samsung's layout in the cryptocurrency field has long gone deep into
This is not the first time Samsung has entered the digital asset field. The company has previously launched Samsung blockchain wallets, which allow users to store and manage cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and wavefields, and supports connecting external hardware wallets such as Ledger Nano S and Nano X directly to Galaxy devices.
The wallet runs on Samsung's own military-grade security platform, Knox, and has a built-in special information push function to track the latest developments in blockchain and cryptocurrency.
Samsung further deepened its cryptocurrency layout in October 2025, expanding its cooperation with Coinbase, allowing US Galaxy users to purchase cryptocurrency directly through Samsung wallets. The integration was initially available to more than 75 million Galaxy users in the United States and is planned to be promoted more widely in the future.
Superimposing stablecoin functionality on top of existing cryptocurrency infrastructure will allow Samsung to provide truly complete cryptocurrency services within one app: purchasing cryptocurrency, storing cryptocurrency, and possibly using stablecoin for daily transactions in the future.
Details that are still unknown
Samsung has not disclosed which specific stablecoins it plans to support, nor has it announced a launch timetable, or stated which partners will participate in introducing this feature into Samsung's wallet. Since the operation of stablecoins requires regulated issuer and bank partnerships, Samsung's final choice of partners-whether it is Circle's USDC, Tether's USDT, or bank-issued alternatives-will have a significant impact on how the feature actually operates and where it is launched.
Taken together, the stablecoin plan, existing blockchain wallets and cooperation with Coinbase all point in a clear direction: Samsung is positioning cryptocurrency as the most widely used wallet application in the world. One of the core infrastructure, rather than a niche feature that requires users to proactively choose.
