Internet activity hits record, ICP ranks among the most active blockchains
July is a milestone month for Internet Computer ($ICP). The Dfinity network reportedly processed 133 million transactions per day during the month, making it the second most active blockchain in the world. This number is based on a broader trend: the network has exceeded one billion transactions in a single quarter in the first quarter of 2026, thanks to approximately 980,000 deployed container smart contracts and 1.24 million active wallets.
This throughput milestone is particularly prominent in the context. As Internet Computer's own documentation points out, ICP transactions are typically more computationally intensive than transactions on most other chains, which means that raw transaction counts may underestimate the amount of work actually done on the network.
MCP beta, AI integration and MULTII/DEX stress testing
In addition to raw throughput, this month also brought a series of product milestones.$ The launch of the beta version of ICP MCP introduces a direct interface between AI agents and ICP containers. According to reports, the server supports container discovery, Internet identity resolution, on-chain queries, method invocations and container management, allowing agent-driven workflows to perform operations without requiring separate custom integrations at each step. In fact, this integration allows Anthropic's Claude to perform on-chain operations and games through relevant platforms without human intervention.
In terms of infrastructure, Caffeine AI entered the AWS Marketplace and Claude MCP catalog in July, extending ICP-native tools to developers in primary streaming and AI environments.
At the end of the month, MULTI/DEX achieved $243 million in simulated trading volume during a 24-hour stress test. According to reports, the platform entered a public stress test phase in early July, aiming to achieve the performance level of a centralized exchange.
Overall, the July update reflects a network that is simultaneously working on throughput, AI proxy infrastructure, and DeFi capabilities, three areas that are likely to define the competitive landscape of the first tier blockchain in the coming year.
