Agreement 26 marks a network milestone

Pi Network's (@PiCoreTeam) native token $PI price has risen, rising more than 6% in the past 24 hours, as bullish sentiment over the project's latest technological upgrade is heating up.

Pi Network has launched Protocol 26, requiring main network node operators to complete upgrades by August 11. The blockchain is preparing for its last planned protocol update, which the Pi core team announced is part of the network's ongoing mainnetwork migration.

The core team pointed out that the blockchain has now successfully completed eight protocol upgrades, and Agreement 26 is the ninth. However, there is only one last major upgrade-Agreement 27 before the current protocol transition is completed. This makes Protocol 26 an important milestone on the network roadmap, and the market seems to be actively absorbing this development.

Based on community discussions, the V26 upgrade introduces a number of improvements, including a stronger security system, enhanced scalability, better network performance, and broader support for developers within the ecosystem.

Prices rebounded, but the background should be noted.

The real-time price of $PI was US$0.08182, up 6.12% in 24 hours, giving a market value of approximately US$897 million. This puts it close to the $1 billion market cap threshold again, but it remains untouched.

The short-term rebound occurred against a challenging background. As recently as July 28, the PI price was only 6% above its all-time low, pressured by a large number of daily token unlocks and weak demand, and despite continued protocol upgrades, community sentiment was described as extremely pessimistic.

Pi Network's current circulation supply is 10.94 billion PI, the total supply ceiling is 100 billion PI, and the annual supply inflation rate is 61.21%. Currently, the announcement of Agreement 26 provides a catalyst for short-term recovery. Whether this momentum can be sustained will likely depend on whether the network can translate technological advances into broader practicality and needs before the Final Agreement 27 upgrade.
