Aviva Investors launches tokenized shares of U.S. dollar liquidity funds on XRP Ledger

London-based asset manager Aviva Investors (part of Aviva Plc) has received approval from the Bank of Ireland to launch tokenized shares of its U.S. dollar liquidity funds on XRP Ledger (XRPL). This marks a new step in the field of tokenizing real-world assets.

The company announced that the tokenized share will be open to qualified investors with digital wallets. The underlying assets of the fund will continue to be held by custodian BNY Mellon, Komainu will provide digital asset custody services, and Licuido will provide tokenization infrastructure.

Dollar liquidity funds invest in high-quality short-term dollar-denominated debt securities and money market instruments issued by governments, banks and corporations. According to Aviva, this tokenized share has the same investment goals and liquidity characteristics as traditional funds.

The launch follows Aviva Investors 'partnership with Ripple earlier this year. Ripple's XRP Ledger provides the blockchain infrastructure for the issuance and management of tokenized shares.

Aviva's funds join the growing number of tokenized investment products on the public blockchain. On XRPL, Arax has previously tokenized the US dollar liquidity fund of British asset management company abrdn in 2024. More broadly, traditional asset management companies including BlackRock, Franklin Templeton and Apollo have also launched tokenized funds to meet the growing demand for blockchain-based financial products.
