FollowingRobinhood's second-quarter revenue hit a record US$1.31 billion, and market-driven event contract trading volume is forecast to surge 10 times.
Robinhood reported net revenue in the second quarter reached US$1.31 billion, a year-on-year increase of 32%, setting a record high. Growth in forecast market, options and stock trading activity effectively offset the significant decline in cryptocurrency revenue.
The company's transaction-based revenue for the quarter jumped 44% to US$776 million. Among them, event contracts have become one of the fastest-growing businesses. In fact, event contract revenue reached $156 million, more than 10 times that of the same period last year. The number of contract transactions also surged more than tenfold to a record 13.6 billion.
Forecasting the market becomes the focus
When talking about forecasting the growth of the market, Chairman and CEO Vlad Tenev said that the field has expanded steadily since March and expects this momentum to continue. Robinhood launched Rothera, an exchange and clearing house regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), in June through its joint venture with Susquehanna International Group. The company said it has traded more than 3.5 billion event contracts so far.
At the same time, options remain another major source of revenue, contributing US$342 million, a year-on-year increase of 29%. Equity income grew even stronger, climbing 95% to $129 million, and nominal equity trading volume reached a record $956 billion, an increase of 85% from the same period last year.
Despite weakening cryptocurrency activity, these businesses continued to perform strongly. Robinhood's cryptocurrency revenue fell 38% year-on-year to US$100 million, with nominal cryptocurrency transactions of US$40 billion, of which US$18 billion was generated from its apps and US$22 billion was generated from Bitstamp.
Global Layout
This online broker is accelerating its global penetration into blockchain and digital assets. It launched Robinhood Chain's public mainnet, an Ethereum Layer 2 network designed for financial services and real-world assets, and also launched stock tokens to eligible users in more than 120 countries.
In May this year, Robinhood launched Agentic Trading, which allows customers to use intelligent agents based on artificial intelligence to trade stocks, options and cryptocurrencies. As of now, nearly 100,000 customers have opened Agentic Trading accounts, with assets under custody exceeding US$100 million.
During the quarter, the company expanded its international footprint by completing the acquisition of WonderFi, a Canadian digital asset products and services platform. This move marks its official entry into the Canadian market.
Tenev also pointed to broader expansion strategies, saying: "Whether it's Robinhood Chain, Robinhood Ventures or Trump Accounts, our product speed is focused on one goal: making everyone an owner. Broad ownership is crucial to a free, stable and prosperous society."
