Ripple invests in two British companies to expand capital market infrastructure
Ripple announced that it has made strategic investments in two British companies, ZILO and Licuido, to expand its capital market infrastructure. The company announced the news on Monday but did not disclose specific financial terms. However, Ripple said the investment is further deepening on existing cooperation with the two companies.
Ripple invests in ZILO and Licuido
ZILO provides transfer agents and fund administration technology for managing tokenized assets, while Licuido is responsible for the issuance, allocation and execution of traditional assets as digital collateral. Through its partnership with the two companies, Ripple will leverage these capabilities to bring regulated transfer agency, issuance and collateral liquidity services to the capital markets on XRPL.
"In the process of deepening the capital market, we invested in ZILO and Licuido, aiming to add regulated transfer agency, issuance and collateral liquidity capabilities to the capital market infrastructure built on XRPL. This move follows Aviva Investors 'tokenization of its U.S. dollar liquidity fund." -- Ripple released on August 3, 2026.
This announcement continues Ripple's capital market strategy that has been publicly laid out for months. In February this year, it was reported that Ripple had partnered with Aviva Investors to tokenize fund structures on XRPL. Aviva Investors is an asset management company with net assets under management of US$345 billion as of 2025.
Nigel Khakoo, senior vice president of trading and markets at Ripple, emphasized that the true value of tokenization lies in the ability to trade, settle, borrow and lend tokens. "ZILO and Licuido provide key capabilities that are critical to further expanding this transformation: regulated digital transfer agency infrastructure, and the liquidity needed for issuance and collateral liquidity." Khakoo said.
Ripple deepens tokenization layout
Ripple has been actively promoting the tokenization process while preparing for the transformation of its network XRPL. On August 1, it was reported that XRPL was preparing for the next major upgrade, which included improvements in tokenization and institutional finance. The upgraded version "xrpd 3.3.0" is expected to be released next week.
In other news, Ripple is part of a 54-company working group formed by the UK government to introduce tokenization to the UK wholesale financial market. These companies are expected to build real-life end-to-end application cases starting with tokenized repurchase agreements over the next 12 months. Other members of the working group include Circle, Coinbase, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley.
