OP MetaMask officially launches Agent Wallet: Autonomous Managed Wallet for AI Agents
MetaMask has officially released MetaMask Agent Wallet, a financial infrastructure product specially designed for autonomous AI agents. This product allows AI agents to have independent autonomous managed wallets that can trade independently and interact with decentralized financial protocols, while users still retain full control over funds.
The wallet used by the machine is controlled by humans.
This product, developed by Consensus and launched in the form of early access on June 8, 2026, solves the long-standing contradiction in proxy-based crypto transactions: how to give AI agents enough freedom to function while preventing them from deviating from the owner's intentions. Agent Wallet adopts a fully autonomous hosting model, allowing AI agents to trade independently without the need for users to give up control. Users can set expenditure limits, agreement whitelists, and risk profiles before the agent starts trading. In "Guardian Mode", agents can only operate within whitelisted agreements and are subject to daily spending limits. Any operations that exceed the policy require two-factor authentication; while "Beast Mode" allows broader protocol access, malicious transactions will still be blocked and require 2FA confirmation.
The wallet uses Cubist's Trusted Execution Environment technology to store the private key in a hardware-isolated secure area during the signing process, ensuring that MetaMask and Consensus cannot access the user's keying material. Transactions are routed through the company's existing security infrastructure, including transaction simulation, fraud and malicious contract detection, Blockaid driven threat scanning, Clear Signing, and Servo MEV protection. In addition, MetaMask provides trading protection of up to US$10,000 per month for eligible activities.
Multi-chain support and extensive integration
Agent Wallet supports a wide range of networks, including Ethereum, Optimism, BNB Chain, Polygon, Monad, Hyperliquid, SeNetwork, Megaeth, Base, Arbitrum, Avalanche, and Linea. The wallet was developed in partnership with Hyperliquid, Polymarket and Aave, with Blockaid providing real-time security and Cubist responsible for key management. Agents can access redemptions, perpetual contracts, forecast markets, liquidity positions, etc. on the EVM chain and Hyperliquid, and always follow user-defined rules.
The wallet is designed to be framework-agnostic and supports integration with tools such as OpenAI Codex, Anthropic's Claude Code, Cursor, OpenClaw, and Nous Research's Hermes Agent. The product will be launched in autonomous hosting form on June 8, 2026. The early access plan has approximately 200 users and is planned to be launched more widely in the summer of 2026.
The release comes at a time when the broader AI proxy economy continues to expand. It is forecast that the agency economy will grow from $5.4 billion to $236 billion in 2034. The release of MetaMask follows the pace of other crypto companies rolling out infrastructure for AI agents, such as Coinbase, which launched its own Agenda Wallets in February 2026.
