Summary

Step App will shut down all services globally on August 21, after four years of operation.

Users were told to release pledged tokens and manage exchange positions before the closure deadline.

The project reported more than 1 million downloads and billions of steps in tracking during operations.

Bithumb will officially stop FITFI trading on August 18, and withdrawals will end on September 18.

FITFI reached a high of approximately US$0.7319 in 2022, which is approximately 149 times its public selling price of US$0.0049.

The Step App said on August 5 that it would close after four years of operation and set August 21 as the deadline for stopping all services.

In the project's official statement, the sports-earning project tells users to unpledge tokens and manage exchange positions before access ends. The project did not explain financial, technical or regulatory reasons for its closure.

The

team said the app recorded "more than 1 million downloads" and "billions of steps tracked." These data are self-reported by the company and have not been independently audited. Step App describes the shutdown as a final cessation of operations rather than a migration to other products or tokens. It has not announced buyers, restructuring processes or follow-up plans.

Dear Steppers, it's hard to say-after four years of operation, Step App is about to close. We have been considering this decision for some time, and now it is time to be honest and honest. We are extremely proud of what Step App has achieved-not only as a product, but also as...

Step App combines fitness tracking with blockchain rewards. Users can earn KCAL in-game tokens through activities and use FITFI for governance, network fee payment, pledge and participate in market functions. The project runs on Step Network and Avalanche, whose websites list different FITFI contract addresses.

The closure notice did not say which features would still be available after August 21, nor did it say whether wallet, market, Step Exchange, bridging, token collection or account data export would continue. Therefore, users should complete operations through verified project channels and confirm the target network before transferring assets. Sending tokens over unsupported networks may cause delays or inability to retrieve them.

According to previous reports, Olympic champion Usain Bolt launched the product in Japan in 2022 as a global ambassador. The app rewards walking and running through FITFI, KCAL and SNEAK Non-Homogeneous Tokens (NFT).

Access to FITFI exchanges has been gradually reduced

Prior to this closure, multiple exchanges had made decisions on FITFI. Bithumb announced on July 16 that it would stop FITFI transactions at 15:00 Korean Standard Time on August 18 because the issues specified by its previous warning had not yet been resolved. According to the exchange's notice, withdrawals will be closed on September 18, one month after trading is suspended.

Bithumb placed FITFI on its warning list in April because the token's combined market value and trading activity on domestic and foreign exchanges fell below its policy thresholds. KuCoin separately removed the Step App on July 30 and set August 31 as the withdrawal deadline in an official announcement. Bybit announced in April that it would remove FITFI spot trading.

The account provided by

also stated that Upbit issued a delisting announcement on July 16, but no corresponding official Upbit notice was found in this review, so this statement was not regarded as confirmation.

Deadlines for these exchanges are not related to Step App's August 21 service shutdown. Holders should review each exchange's withdrawal rules, supported networks and deadlines, rather than assuming that project deadlines apply everywhere. If on-chain transfers stop working, the exchange's withdrawal support may also end early.

FITFI's decline ends a turbulent four-year cycle

According to CoinGecko data, FITFI reached an all-time high of $0.7319 on May 5, 2022. Its public selling price is $0.0049, bringing the peak to about 149 times the selling price. This historical return describes the highest recorded price rather than the benefits achieved by each buyer.

Step App's 2022 review states that more than 1 million people had registered before its release, and the app recorded more than 115,000 downloads in its first month. The project later reported more than 1 million downloads, but no audited usage, revenue or retention data were released with the closure notice.

This shutdown is one of many encryption applications to be closed during 2026. DeFi app Legend has said it was shutting down because it failed to reach sustainable scale. In contrast, Step App did not disclose why continuing operations is no longer feasible.

The current top priority is asset access. According to the schedule announced by the project, users holding locked positions need to complete the operation by August 21, while Bithumb and KuCoin users need to face separate dates on their respective exchanges. The team has not announced formal plans for compensation, token swaps, succession platforms or remaining services beyond the deadline. Further instructions need to be issued through a verified project account.
