Dubai entity Flowdesk Omega FZE (a subsidiary of French company Flowdesk) has obtained a crypto broker dealer license issued by the Dubai Virtual Assets Authority (VARA). Flowdesk is a liquidity provider and virtual asset trading technology company with investors including BlackRock, Cathay Innovation and Coinbase Ventures.
According to the announcement, Flowdesk will be able to provide digital asset or crypto broker dealer services to qualified investors and institutional investors in Dubai and United Arab Emirates in United Arab Emirates. This is only two months after the company received approval-in-principle in June 2026.
Guilhem Chaumont, co-founder and CEO of Flowdesk Group, pointed out that the license issued by VARA Dubai is a landmark moment for the company. He said: "VARA has established one of the clearest and most ambitious virtual asset regulatory frameworks in the world, and this license allows us to serve institutions and qualified customers in the region with the same stringent standards. United Arab Emirates has become one of the most important virtual asset markets in the world and is critical to our own growth. We are proud to now operate as a fully regulated broker-dealer in Dubai and look forward to continuing our cooperation with VARA as the market matures."
VARA makes Dubai the digital financial center of United Arab Emirates
In March 2025, Flowdesk completed US$102 million in financing, saying at the time the funds would be used for its expansion plans and opening offices in United Arab Emirates.
Currently, the company is not only regulated by United Arab Emirates Dubai, but also obtained a Cryptographic Asset Service Provider (CASP) license issued by the French Financial Markets Authority (AMF) in Europe in accordance with MiCA regulations. In addition, it also has offices in Singapore and the United States.
United Arab Emirates Dubai has become the main hub for regulated VASPs (virtual asset service providers), holding more than 50% of the licensed VASPs in the United Arab Emirates, followed by ADGM, the United Arab Emirates Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and DIFC.
