FalconX and Interstice Connect Connect Canton to Ethereum, Solana and Robinhood chains

Interstice Digital and FalconX have launched a cross-chain switching engine that connects the Canton Network with Ethereum, Solana and Robinhood Chain.

According to an announcement released on Tuesday, the unmanaged engine allows assets to be freely exchanged between the four networks, without the need for Interstice to store assets or execute transactions on behalf of users.

FalconX, a digital asset master broker that serves institutional investors, provides liquidity to the engine. The engine aims to connect Canton's institutional market with assets and trading activity on the public blockchain, building a bridge for users to switch between tokenized assets on Canton and the liquidity of networks such as Ethereum and Solana.

Canton is a public blockchain built specifically for institutional finance, with privacy and rights control features, and is designed for regulated transactions and tokenized assets. Its ecosystem includes large financial institutions such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and BNP Paribas.

Interstice is a wholly owned subsidiary of Everyrealm and is supported by investors such as a16z Crypto, Coinbase Ventures, Galaxy and Brevan Howard. The company did not disclose the assets it originally supported or provide trading volume data for the exchange engine.

Canton expands institutional tokenization activities.

This integration coincides with more traditional financial institutions using Canton for tokenized assets and blockchain-based settlements.

In July this year, electronic trading platform Tradeweb executed an on-chain U.S. Treasury bond trade, and Franklin Templeton transferred tokenized treasury bond securities to Virtu Financial in exchange for tokenized cash.

Tradeweb is responsible for execution and price discovery, while Canton synchronizes the settlement of the two assets in real time. Tradeweb said it was the first real-time buy and sell transaction of tokenized U.S. Treasuries settled in USDCx, a USDC-backed stablecoin issued on Canton, with other participants including Societe Generale, Digital Asset and Blockdaemon.

Societe Generale has also deployed its euro and dollar-denominated stablecoins on Canton for tokenized collateral, repo financing and institutional settlements, while Visa has also tested private stablecoin settlements on the network.

Other initiatives include a Japanese government bond collateral pilot involving Mizuho Bank and Nomura Securities, and the S & P Dow Jones Index bringing its iBoxx U.S. Treasury bond index to Canton.
