XRP Ledger's decentralized exchange processes more than 6,700 XRP transactions through automated bridging in 72 hours
According to online active verifier Vet, XRP Ledger's built-in decentralized exchange (DEX) processed more than 4,200 transactions through its native bridging asset XRP in 72 hours. Visualization data recently shared by Vet shows that XRP Ledger's unique automated bridging protocol is running at scale and highlights the thousands of transactions that are automatically routed through XRP to optimize traders 'execution prices.
How automatic bridging drives the XRPL decentralized exchange
Automatic bridging is a built-in function of the XRP Ledger decentralized exchange. When XRP routing can bring users better prices, it will allow transaction quotes between two assets (IOUs) to be automatically settled through XRP. This automated process takes place at the protocol level and requires no additional trader action. As a result, every transaction on the XRPL decentralized exchange has access to the deepest available liquidity in the network rather than being scattered across fragmented funds pools.
During the 72-hour snapshot period, the decentralized exchange processed a total of 4,200 IOU-to-IOU transaction quotes through automated bridging, routing a total of more than 6,700 XRP. The sales volume mainly came from XAH transactions, of which 4,265 XRP transactions were traded and 4,232 XRP were sold; while RLUSD dominated the recipient, recording 4,247 transactions and receiving 5,153 XRP. This trading activity reflects XRP Ledger's core design as a unified platform for cross-asset trading.
Vet said in its visual explanation: "XRP is XRP Ledger's native bridging asset. This is the actual transaction through XRP on the XRPL decentralized exchange over the past 72 hours. This is a protocol-native feature and is this by default. If routing through XRP can improve transaction quality, XRPL will automatically route quotes from decentralized exchanges to XRP."
Small Dictionary: Automatic bridging means that transactions are automatically routed through the main asset of the network (here XRP), rather than requiring users to manually select the bridging method, thereby ensuring optimal exchange rates and higher liquidity for decentralized transactions.
XAH trading dominance and cross-chain flow
Issues for community members focus on the continued high XAH trading volume in visualization. Vet attributed this to the presence of active market makers in this particular order book. He also pointed out that XAH, as a digital asset issued on XRP Ledger, has real demand. Users often transfer funds between Xahau, a dedicated smart contract network, and XRP Ledger through the network's cross-chain transfer feature.
This flow between blockchains creates continued decentralized exchange activity. Vet further stated that the automated bridging feature allows the decentralized exchange to aggregate liquidity and transaction volume more effectively than a fragmented smart contract decentralized trading platform. Traders always interact on the same unified platform, and the protocol optimizes order routing across the network.
Small Dictionary: Xahau is an independent, smart contract-enabled blockchain network designed to interoperate with XRP Ledger. Transfer capabilities enable assets to be seamlessly transferred between Xahau and XRPL.
By aggregating liquidity and trading, the agreement allows smaller assets with lower transaction volume to benefit from deeper liquidity and better trading results.
Liquidity providers, automated market makers routing and future outlook
Vincent Van Code, a software engineer who focuses on blockchain protocols, raised questions about routing issues between automated market makers (AMMs) and liquidity providers. Vet responded that about 31% of automated bridging transaction volume on XRPL decentralized exchanges is conducted through a pool of automated market makers or liquidity providers, but he also warned that this figure is an approximation and that a detailed breakdown requires more comprehensive data.
Although Vet's 72-hour snapshot data is vivid and detailed, current automatic bridging activity only accounts for 0.16% of the total transaction volume of decentralized exchanges during that time period. Although the proportion is still low, Vet said that as protocol usage grows and automatic bridge transaction volume increases to double-digit percentages, this feature will become a more prominent part of XRP Ledger's decentralized exchange. Currently, the technical foundation is in place and has proven to be able to efficiently handle high transaction volume and cross-asset transactions.
