Cryptocurrency becomes a cornerstone of businesses
Michael Siler, chairman of Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), offers a new perspective on accumulating bitcoin. He emphasized Bitcoin's key role in transforming economic energy into a digital form that can be securely integrated with individuals, businesses, machines or governments.
Building Bitcoin Resilience?
This innovative concept is now reflected in the company's balance sheet dynamics. Strategy is moving from simply holding Bitcoin to building a closed corporate economic structure. Company financial records show that it holds 840,447 bitcoins, accounting for approximately 4% of the total bitcoin supply and worth approximately US$64.9 billion.
Michael Siler emphasized that Bitcoin has the potential to digitally transform economic energy and can be securely attached to individuals, businesses, governments and other entities.
The company, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has been at the forefront of large-scale acquisitions of Bitcoin at the institutional level in recent years. Therefore, its huge position exposes it directly to volatility risks caused by fluctuations in Bitcoin prices.
How to deal with accounting pressure?
This large-scale accumulation has withstood the test of market volatility. The company faced severe accounting review pressure until the recent strong rise in Bitcoin prices brought it back to unrealized net profits of $1.4 billion.
These developments suggest that companies are integrating Bitcoin at the heart of corporate finances, rather than just as a store of value. However, this strategy remains vulnerable to sharp changes in digital asset prices.
Emerging digital credit structures
Strategy's US$13.37 billion digital credit division is a commercial embodiment of the integration Siler envisions. The company is using Bitcoin as collateral to issue fixed-income tokenized liabilities.
Mini Glossary: Tokenized liabilities refer to the digital representation of traditional debt instruments based on blockchain, while the collateral base represents the pool of assets that underpins the debt.
When the flagship token STRC fell below its face value during the summer, management chose to repurchase it with statutory reserves rather than liquidate Bitcoin collateral.
These measures pushed the STRC price back to US$96.22, demonstrating Strategy's determination to make Bitcoin the cornerstone of corporate lending.
Impact of traditional market cycles
Although the plan is intended to permanently digitally lock in economic value, this plan is not completely independent of existing financial market cycles. Its sustainability is still affected by traditional financial market rules and changes in risk appetite.
Strategy's approach expands Bitcoin's role in corporate balance sheets. It continues to respond to market pressures to maintain resilience.
This structure always focuses on a core question: how Bitcoin withstands continued market and economic challenges when it is widely integrated into corporate balance sheets.
