SBI Holdings and Solana Foundation announced a partnership to form SBI Solana Global, aiming to create Japan's first regulated online financial market. The joint venture will deploy the Solana blockchain to manage yen stablecoins, tokenized assets, cross-border payments and transaction tracks for artificial intelligence.

Strategic Cooperation and Entity Reorganization

SBI Holdings and Solana Foundation jointly announced the establishment of a strategic alliance to develop a regulated chain financial market in Japan. Under the agreement, Solana Foundation will acquire an equity stake in SBI R3 Japan, which will subsequently change its name to SBI Solana Global Co., Ltd. The new entity will operate jointly with existing major shareholders, including SBI Holdings and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group. The joint announcement pointed out that the plan aims to directly connect Japan's mature legal framework and deep financial asset pool with the high-speed liquidity of the Solana blockchain network, positioning Japan as a core hub for digital asset innovation in Asia.

Five core business areas

SBI Solana Global will focus on five specific areas. The joint venture plans to support and distribute JPYSC, a stablecoin pegged to the yen, while tokenizing real-world assets such as corporate bonds, real estate and investment funds. In addition, the two partners also intend to build cross-border settlement infrastructure, provide dedicated on-chain services for institutional investors, and a next-generation transaction track optimized for autonomous artificial intelligence agents. Initial deployment will focus on Japan's domestic market and gradually expand to broader Asian and global financial networks.
