Ondo launches a truly round-the-clock casting and redemption service for tokenized stocks

Ondo achieves 24/7 instant minting and redemption of tokenized stocks

In the past, trading tokenized stocks at 2 a.m. on a Sunday usually meant only one thing: moving assets between wallets, rather than actually creating or redemption the asset. Ondo has just changed that.

Ondo has now launched an instant casting and redemption service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs, and has been launched simultaneously on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana. This upgrade breaks through Ondo's previous limit of only supporting a 24-hour casting window 5 days a week. It covers the first batch of its six most actively traded tokenized assets: SPYon, Qon, CRCLon, NVDAon, TSLAon and GOOGLon. It is expected to expand to more assets in the future.

Why this is a real innovation

Several platforms have previously claimed to provide 24/7 trading of tokenized stocks. However, this statement has always come with additional conditions: the so-called round-the-clock access only applies to the transfer of assets between wallets or exchanges, and does not involve the minting of new tokens or the redemption of existing tokens. Minding and redemption-the actual creation and settlement of these tokenized assets-always follows traditional market hours and is suspended over the weekend, as do their underlying stock exchanges.

OndoStocks has previously supported 24/7 unlicensed transfers, allowing users to hold and transfer tokenized assets across supported wallets, exchanges and agreements at any time. The missing link is that these assets cannot be minted or redeemed outside the standard trading hours. This update fills just that gap: Eligible users can now mint or redeem backed assets at current market prices on any day and at any time, including weekends and U.S. public holidays.

Why the price you pay depends on the trading platform

The actual impact of this update is most evident in terms of execution costs. Data shared by Ondo compares weekend transaction costs on its platform to other tokenized stock trading venues.

Taking the US$100,000 tokenized Circle Stock (CRCLon) transaction as an example, the average execution cost on the Ondo platform is US$33, while another platform is as high as US$835, a 25-fold difference. The gap is the largest in tokenized Google stock (GOOGLon):$43 is spent on Ondo, compared with $1,644 on other platforms, a 38-fold difference. The highest multiple is tokenized NVDAon: only $13 on Ondo, compared with $738 on other platforms, a difference of 57 times. Tesla shares have a 25-fold gap, Invesco QQQ ETF has a 7-fold gap, and the SPDR S & P 500 ETF has a 5-fold gap.

This gap stems from differences in how liquidity is obtained. Ondo's tokenized stocks draw liquidity directly from public markets and have huge trading depth. Other platforms rely on on-chain liquidity pools that are of limited depth in design, which means that larger transactions-especially on weekends when market liquidity is thinner-can drive prices significantly higher and make traders pay a high price.

The broad implications of this for the tokenized market

Demand for round-the-clock access to traditional financial assets continues to grow, and investors increasingly expect tokenized stocks to provide the same speed and flexibility as cryptocurrency transactions. By extending its minting and redemption services to a full 24/7 cycle, Ondo is working to give tokenized stocks the same continuous liquidity and practicality as its parallel cryptocurrency market.

Ondo Stocks has established a significant lead in this area, launching more than 430 tokenized stocks and ETFs on Solana, Ethereum and BNB Chain, and becoming the first platform in the category to have a total locked value exceeding US$1 billion, more than all other tokenized stock platforms combined. The infrastructure also allows tokenized stocks to be used as collateral for circulation between platforms such as Ondo Perps, Morpho and Euler.

Ondo said that this 24/7 casting and redemption upgrade is based on this foundation. As the tokenized market continues to move towards a fully continuous trading model, further expansion of its all-weather infrastructure is already in planning.
