Jupiter of Solana Ecosystem has moved into physical collectibles with a platform that allows buyers to purchase rated, tokenized and tradable physical cards directly on a decentralized exchange (DEX).
The initiative, called Jupiter Gacha, is currently in testing. After accessing Jupiter, users can purchase random card packs containing certified Pokémon (PKM) or One Piece cards. Each card is sealed in a plastic shell, rated for appearance, and forged with on-chain tokens to make it tradeable on the platform. Jupiter wrote in a July 13 post posted on the X platform: "Every time you open a bag is a certified rating card. The cards you chased as a child can now be traded on Jupiter."
Tokenized cards meet on-chain transactions
Tokenized trading cards are not a new concept. Platforms such as Collector Crypt and Courtyard have been launching on-chain Pokémon cards for some time. However, Jupiter is one of the most active DEXs on Solana, and its entry into this field is of great significance. In May this year, during the 30th anniversary celebration of the Pokémon series, the transaction volume of tokenized Pokémon cards on various platforms increased significantly.
Adam Hollander, chief marketing officer of OpenSea, said tokenizing Pokémon cards could help revitalize overall interest in non-homogeneous tokens (NFT), whose activity has dropped significantly since peaking in 2021 and 2022. The increased activity of collectors in the trading card space may also open the door for other physical categories such as sports cards, watches and luxury goods to gain attention on the chain.
Jupiter's broader presence in tokenized assets
Jupiter's entry into collectibles is part of its expansion of physical asset services on Solana. Previously, Securitize had selected Jupiter to assist it in launching fully on-chain, regulated tokenized stocks online. This partnership puts Jupiter at the heart of the tokenization of regulated assets on Solana, while the launch of Jupiter Gacha further extends its influence into the collectibles market.
One Piece is one of the most traded card series in the world, with a scale and collection needs comparable to those of Pokémon. Jupiter included both series at the launch, targeting an established group of collectors who are already familiar with the rated card market. Whether Jupiter Gacha can get out of the testing phase and expand its card catalog will determine how much weight it can occupy in the on-chain collectibles space.
