Ripple, a leading enterprise-level blockchain and cryptocurrency company based in San Francisco, has expanded the scope of its regulated RLUSD stablecoins beyond traditional payments. Working with the charity Hire Heroes USA, Ripple recently funded a grant program to support businesses owned by U.S. veterans and their spouses.

On Monday, Hiring Heroes America announced its first batch of 25 grant recipients, each receiving $10,000 to expand their business. In addition to financial support, the selected companies will also receive "Certified Veterans Employer" training, employer resources and business expansion guidance.
Hiring Heroes America, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping veterans and their families achieve civilian employment, said the new program aims to strengthen businesses run by veterans and military dependents, while focusing on creating new employment opportunities for members of the military community.
Jonathan Perri, Ripple's director of social impact, pointed out that businesses run by veterans and military dependents play a vital role in innovating, creating jobs and providing economic opportunities.
To qualify for a grant, a business must be at least 51% owned by U.S. veterans or military dependents, operate in the United States, and demonstrate plans to recruit veterans and military dependents over the next 12 to 18 months.
RLUSD stablecoins continue to expand their role
RLUSD stablecoins were launched by Ripple as regulated, enterprise-level digital assets originally designed for use in the payments and tokenized finance sectors. In recent months, it has also become a funding carrier for projects with social impact.
Small Dictionary: RLUSD (Ripple Dollar Stable Coin)-A fully regulated, dollar-backed stable coin developed by Ripple, designed to provide security and transparency for enterprise-level digital payment and tokenized financial operations. RLUSD is backed by 1:1 reserves and has been registered with U.S. regulators.
Ripple's philanthropic activities through RLUSD are part of its broader Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. The company has donated more than $250 million to projects worldwide, partnering with universities, nonprofits and social enterprises in more than 80 countries. Its grant program prioritizes areas such as blockchain research, innovation and sustainable development.
Charity, Partnership and Impact
Ripple committed $25 million-mostly in the form of RLUSD stablecoins-to educational organizations DonorsChoice and Teach For America in 2023. Ripple views this as one of the first measures to use stablecoins for large-scale charitable funding.
Ripple also continues to build partnerships with international non-profit organizations, including Mercy Corps Ventures, Water.org, the International Rescue Committee and the Accion Opportunity Fund. These collaborations have strengthened the company's determination to apply blockchain technology and digital assets to social good, while also expanding its core businesses in the payment and finance fields.
