Tether leads US$7 million in financing to promote USAT's integration into payroll and payment infrastructure
Pact Labs will use USAT to support real-time salary payments, digital wallets and instant payroll acquisition services. This cooperation aims to reduce payment delays through stablecoin settlement and promote the modernization of the U.S. salary system.
Tether has completed a US$7 million Series A funding round for Pact Labs to expand USAT into areas such as payroll, payments, credit and instant access to wages. The investment, announced today, also includes Blockchange Ventures and Lasagna. According to Tether, the funding will help Pact Labs integrate USAT into the payroll systems commonly used by U.S. employees and businesses through its financial infrastructure.
Financing focuses on payroll infrastructure
This Series A financing will support Pact Labs as USAT's infrastructure development in a number of financial services, covering payroll, instant payroll acquisition, consumer credit and daily payment applications.
According to Tether, the cooperation between the two parties aims to directly embed USAT into enterprise-level financial platforms. Through its infrastructure, Pact Labs enables companies to embed digital wallets, transfer wages in real time, and provide various financial services.
The two companies said the move focuses on improving payment processing processes and reducing reliance on traditional payment systems. As a result, employers and financial platforms can process transactions around the clock.
Focus shifts to instant salary collection
Tether pointed out that the U.S. payroll system handles more than $11 trillion in capital flows every year, but a lot of the underlying infrastructure was built decades ago. The company said employees often have to wait days or even weeks to get the wages they have earned. These payments delays can also result in overdraft charges, short-term borrowings and other finance costs.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said trading data showed strong demand for dollar-based salary settlements. He added that employees in emerging markets have long used USDT to make up for salary gaps created by domestic payment systems. Ardoino said Tether is building similar capabilities for the U.S. market through USAT. He also pointed out that the batch-based salary system continues to impose unnecessary costs on employees.
USAT expansion continues to advance
Bo Hines, head of USAT business, said that payroll checks are one of the practical application scenarios of the digital dollar. He added that Pact Labs provides the infrastructure to deliver USAT directly to U.S. employees through existing financial platforms.
According to Tether, the investment is part of its infrastructure strategy to support the practical application of the digital dollar. The company said salaries are one of the largest capital flows in the United States, creating opportunities to integrate stablecoin technology into daily financial activities.
