MoonPay completes acquisition of Glide to expand digital asset infrastructure
MoonPay has completed the acquisition of cryptographic infrastructure startup Glide to enhance and expand its digital asset services. The two companies disclosed in a joint announcement on Thursday that they would integrate Glide's deposit and routing technology.
Beyond payments: MoonPay's infrastructure strategy
MoonPay was established in 2018 and provides fiat and cryptocurrency exchange services, which is growing rapidly by making it easier for consumers and businesses to access cryptocurrencies. After acquiring Glide, MoonPay plans to enhance its platform capabilities and shift from a payment-oriented approach to broader digital asset infrastructure solutions.
Glide's technology aims to simplify the process for users to deposit cryptocurrencies and make the management and transfer of funds between different networks and tokens more efficient. The move is part of MoonPay's infrastructure-focused strategy, which has recently also involved transactions related to security, transaction and accounting functions.
Glide: Creating a frictionless deposit experience
Glide was founded in 2023 by Tushar Soni and Qinyu Tong, both of whom were former members of the Robinhood Wallet team. They are committed to addressing recurring pain points that Web3 consumer start-ups experience during the asset deposit process. The Glide-supported app accepts deposits from more than 100 tokens on 30 blockchain networks. According to platform documentation, it connects wallets, exchanges and payment sources, aiming to unify the user experience in a fragmented ecosystem.
Soni and Tong said that while working at Robinhood, they noticed that users often encountered difficulties recharging their wallets, and assets were often stuck on the wrong chain or in the wrong form of tokens. They described each transaction as requiring "bridging, redemption and interruption," resulting in complex operations and frustration for users.
Glide shifts its focus from wallet infrastructure to a single deposit process, allowing users to recharge wallets from different sources (chains, tokens, exchanges, or cards) without having to manually bridge or redeem assets. The acquisition provides MoonPay with Glide's advanced routing system, which is designed to achieve seamless transfer of funds and reduce the risk of user errors.

Integration and Recent Acquisitions
Upon completion of the acquisition, Glide's technology will be integrated into the MoonPay Deposits product, which already supports platforms such as Wallet, Moonshot and Paysafe within Telegram. Ivan Soto-Wright, CEO and co-founder of MoonPay, said the transaction is in line with the company's strategic direction to continue expanding service layers, which are critical to the digital asset business. Recent acquisitions include Sodot, Decent and DFlow, Entendre and Dawn Labs.
Soto-Wright pointed out that eliminating complex issues faced by users-such as sending the wrong token on the wrong chain-is one of the core goals. He predicts that future blockchain platforms will require infrastructure to make such difficulties "invisible."
He explained that each acquisition this year has added a necessary infrastructure layer to help users and businesses transfer, secure, transaction and accounting of funds in the digital asset space.
