Pi Network main network protocol v25 upgrade officially confirmed
After six weeks of silence, the Pi Network team finally confirmed that protocol v25 will be launched on July 22. This update introduces new privacy tools and network performance improvements. Meanwhile, Pi Coin fell more than 27% in just one week and is still struggling.
What does the protocol v25 upgrade bring?
The Pi core team said that Protocol v25 is one of the most important network upgrades this year. Its main goal is to make the Pi blockchain more stable and reliable and prepare it for future applications. The team has asked all node operators to upgrade to v25 to maintain connectivity to the network.
One of the biggest changes is support for privacy-protecting smart contracts. This allows developers to build apps that allow users to verify information without revealing personal privacy. For example, users can prove their identity or qualifications without having to upload sensitive files. This is thanks to two new technologies-the BN254 encryption algorithm and the Poseidon hash function, which greatly simplify the development of zero-knowledge applications.
Before protocol v25, building such privacy-sensitive applications on the Pi Network was much more difficult. In addition, the Pi core team also revealed that subsequent protocol v26 upgrades are also expected to be launched in the future.
Pi mining application welcomes a new interface
Along with the protocol upgrade, Pi Network also began to update its mining application. The latest version introduces redesigned side menus and profile pages to make core functions such as main-network listings, mining information and Pi apps easier to access. The app has also added a dark mode, one of the most popular features in the community. According to the core team, this is only the first step in improving the experience of 60 million pioneer users, and there will be more updates planned for future versions.
Can protocol v25 help Pi prices recover?
Although protocol v25 is an important technology upgrade, many investors are still concerned about whether it can help Pi Coin recover. This update is expected to improve the Pi Network ecosystem and lower the threshold for developers to build new applications, thereby increasing network activity. However, in the long run, its impact on Pi prices may be limited. It is possible for prices to jump in the short term, but it is still difficult to continue to rise.
The biggest resistance comes from the growing supply of tokens. According to PiScan data, more than 775.8 million Pi will be unlocked between July and December 2026, which will put greater selling pressure on the market. So far, Pi Coin has fallen more than 27% in the past week and is down again 10% today, with prices hovering around $0.07.
