Augur launches a dispute resolution system and a two-month token migration test, and the forecast market faces more stringent institutional scrutiny
Summary
Augur has launched a decentralized layer to resolve the outcome of forecast market disputes. REP token holders are testing the system through a two-month Moon Fork migration. Wall Street banks are tightening employee policies as concerns about insider trading intensify.
Augur releases new solution
According to an announcement issued by the Lituus Foundation, the foundation announced the restart of Augur and released the Augur Lituus white paper, which outlines a settlement layer for predicting the outcome of market disputes. Under the proposal, the market does not have to rely on companies, committees, multi-signature wallets or governance committees to resolve contentious matters.
The foundation said its goal is not to open another trading platform, but to use this solution layer as infrastructure for other forecasting markets and protocols. The design separates the outcome determination process from services such as transactions, liquidity management, user interfaces and customer distribution.
Thewhite paper also compares multiple decentralized oracle systems, focusing on how each system might behave when participants have financial incentives to influence the outcome. The foundation said Augur Lituus used economic incentives to make it more rational to support accurate results than false results.
Augur tests settlement mechanism through real-time token fork
In addition to the white paper, Augur also launched a public test called "Moon Fork" to examine its controversy and algorithm fork process. According to the foundation, the test originated from a prediction market associated with NASA's Artemis-2 mission.
During the testing period, REP token holders must go through a two-month migration period to choose which version of the agreement to support and transfer assets to the appropriate version. The foundation stated that if the token stays in the version abandoned by the participants, it will lose its economic value.
Unlike internal simulations, Moon Fork introduces economic incentives and public participation. The foundation said the process will test the effectiveness of token migration, user coordination and behavioral patterns when there are multiple competing versions of event outcomes.
Augur originally launched its predictive market model in the early stages of Ethereum's development. The system allows users to create markets linked to real-world events, while REP holders participate in the settlement of results through financial incentives.
The background of this project restart is that prediction markets such as Polymarket and Kalshi have attracted more users and attention. According to the Lituus Foundation, many platforms still rely on centralized operators or governance processes to determine the outcome of disputes.
Institutional control of event contracts is being strengthened
Predicts that markets will also face greater scrutiny for traders 'possible use of confidential information. Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America have all introduced or revised employee policies that cover incident contracts.
The restrictions are designed to reduce the risk of insider trading and conflicts of interest on platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi. Employees may have information before elections, economic data is released, corporate decisions or geopolitical events are made public.
Goldman Sachs has banned employees from trading contracts related to the bank, elections, financial markets, macroeconomic data and geopolitics. The bank adopted the rules after regulators and companies began paying close attention to employee activities on prediction platforms.
While these controls relate to who can trade and what information they have, Augur's proposed system solves another problem in the market: how to settle disputed contracts after relevant events occur. The foundation has not announced a specific date for the full deployment of the Lituus solution layer.
