MegaETH officially closed its Mega Mafia incubator project and shifted to independent application development.
After two years of operation, MegaETH officially terminated its star incubator project Mega Mafia. The team made this difficult decision after two years of operation. During this period, the project supported a total of 20 early start-up teams, and these incubation companies received a total of US$80 million in financing from well-known venture capital institutions.
"We have been building MegaMafia for the past two years, and now we have decided to bring it to a close. Although the project has been successful in many ways, we believe it is based on assumptions that no longer apply. Here are some reflections and future plans."-- Shuyao Kong (@hotpot_dao), July 16, 2026
It is worth noting that MegaETH does not hold equity or ownership in these projects. Core developers originally expected these founders to remain loyal to the network, and the team hoped to ensure long-term commitment through shared values without the need for a formal contract. However, the reality of the fiercely competitive crypto market quickly proved this assumption wrong: founders naturally prioritized their own product roadmap over ecological alignment.
Many developers have migrated successful applications to competing blockchain networks. For example, the Global Token Exchange decided to build its own sovereign chain; the Noise team moved the social attention market to Coinbase's Base; the HelloTrade team moved the application to the Monad blockchain; and the stablecoin issuer Cap chose a multi-chain strategy. In addition, two of the five incubation applications have ceased operations. Therefore, the value of returning to MegaETH is very limited.
The sudden structural shift to first-party applications
occurred after the network reached important milestones. On April 30, MegaETH created its native token MEGA after reaching performance milestones in ten ecosystem applications.
Next, the MegaETH platform will directly fund its own native consumer applications. These native products will be called OMEGA apps and have been developed specifically to take advantage of MegaETH's extremely fast real-time execution capabilities. This is a bold move that demonstrates the confidence in insisting on independent development in the Web3 ecosystem.
MegaETH strengthens a developer-led ecosystem
Through this shift, core teams will be able to establish direct connections with platform users, eliminating the need to rely on external start-ups to increase transaction volume. This shift puts more responsibility for product performance on the shoulders of developers.
The platform will also continue to promote its stablecoin-based economic system. Net income from U.S. dollar stablecoins will be used to continue to repurchase MEGA tokens. It is hoped that this new approach developed by the first party will help keep economic activity within the core ecosystem.
