XRP Ledger is about to undergo a major upgrade: FixCleanup3_2_0 amendment will activate the mainnet in two weeks

XRP Ledger is preparing for a major upgrade, and the FixCleanup3_2_0 amendment is scheduled to activate the mainnet in less than two weeks. The amendment received 85.71% consensus support, with a total of 30 validators voting in favor, triggering the launch of a two-week activation period.

FixCleanup3_2_0 upgrade details

The FixCleanup3_2_0 amendment introduces a series of technical improvements to the XRP ledger protocol. These adjustments involve single asset vaults, lending agreements, licensed decentralized exchanges (DEX), multifunctional tokens, and licensed domains. Accuracy and rounding fixes have been integrated for single asset vaults and lending agreements to improve the reliability of these services.

This upgrade also adds a fix to resolve an issue in the "ValidPermissionedDEX" immutability check-an issue that previously triggered when a valid order is deleted. In addition, the upgrade introduces a verification check for the amount of non-standard multi-function tokens and implements a zero-DomainID check to enhance the security of licensed domains.

A highlight of this upgrade is the addition of AccountRootsDeletedClean immutability check to ensure that no directly accessible residue is left after the account is deleted. This amendment is part of version 3.2.0 of xrpld (the reference implementation server for the XRP ledger protocol). This version was released in mid-June and aims to improve network stability and reduce operational risks for organizations and users.

Small Dictionary: xrpld is the core reference implementation software running the XRP ledger server. It is maintained by Ripple and supports verification, participation, and transaction relay on the network.

Main network upgrade schedule

According to XRPScan data, the FixCleanup3_2_0 upgrade is scheduled to be activated on July 29, 2026 at 09:57:00 UTC. The timetable reflects the standard two-week consensus period that an amendment needs to go through after receiving majority approval.

XRP ledger ecosystem growth

With this software upgrade, XRP ledger also reached a milestone this week: the number of accounts exceeded 8 million. According to popular XRP browser XRPL Services, the total number of accounts has reached 8,005,586, reflecting continued growth in web adoption. XRPL Services pointed out that XRP ledger accounts exceeded 8 million for the first time, indicating that interest and activity in the ecosystem are still rising.

Swell 2026 Conference and Industry Participation

The development momentum of XRP continues to increase this year, and a number of major developments will be welcomed in the autumn. The annual Swell Conference organized by Ripple will be held in New York City in 2026. This event will bring together builders, financial leaders and members of the XRP community to discuss the trends and future development of blockchain technology.

Expected speakers for Swell 2026 include: Tom Farley, Chairman and CEO of digital asset exchange Bullish; Brad Garlinghouse, CEO of Ripple, the technology company behind the XRP ledger; Billy Hult, CEO of Tradeweb; Monica Long, President of Ripple; and David Schwartz, Honorary Chief Technology Officer of Ripple.

Ripple joins x402 Foundation Program

Ripple announced that it has become the new chief member of the x402 Foundation. The nonprofit foundation focuses on developing technical standards and infrastructure to support agency payments. Ripple's participation will further develop developer tools for implementing the x402 protocol, thereby facilitating transactions between XRP and RLUSD.

Small Dictionary: The x402 Foundation is committed to promoting open standards for agent payments, allowing digital agents to independently use digital assets such as XRP and RLUSD for transactions without human intervention.
