Andrew Cuomo joins OKX Board of Directors

Andrew Cuomo has joined OKX Board of Directors. Since 2023, Cuomo has been advising OKX on U.S. regulatory and institutional strategy. The appointment comes as OKX is expanding its business in 2026, during which Intercontinental Exchange made a strategic investment in OKX, valued at approximately US$25 billion. Cuomo will also serve as co-chairman of OKX's joint venture with Intercontinental Exchange, which focuses on connecting traditional asset markets with digital asset markets.

Cuomo joins OKX board after serving as an exchange consultant

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has joined the board of cryptocurrency exchange OKX, formalizing his relationship as the company's U.S. regulatory and institutional strategy adviser since 2023. Como served as the 56th governor of New York, New York State Attorney General, and Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. OKX said Como's addition brings public sector and regulatory experience to its leadership as the company expands its operations in the U.S. market.

Xu Mingxing, founder and CEO of OKX, said: "Governor Cuomo has been an insightful voice of OKX for many years, and his joining of the board of directors formally established this relationship, which has profoundly influenced the way we enter the U.S. market." Xu Mingxing said in a statement that Como has been a trusted consultant to OKX since 2023 and said his joining the board of directors is another step in the company's expansion in 2026. OKX said the company is continuing to build a large digital asset exchange and a broader financial infrastructure platform.

OKX's strategy to build broader financial infrastructure

The company said its expansion was supported by a license layout covering the United States, the United Arab Emirates, the European Economic Area, Singapore and Australia and monthly certificate of reserves reports. OKX said Como's joining the board reflects the overall direction the company seeks to operate in traditional finance, digital assets and blockchain-based infrastructure. The appointment also comes as the exchange strengthens its interaction with institutional and regulatory stakeholders in the U.S. market.

Appointment follows OKX's 2026 expansion

This board appointment comes during OKX's large-scale expansion. In March 2026, Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, made a strategic investment in OKX, valuing the cryptocurrency exchange at approximately US$25 billion. In June 2026, OKX announced the establishment of a joint venture with Intercontinental Exchange, with Como serving as co-chairman. The joint venture aims to connect ICE's exchange and data infrastructure with OKX's on-chain and self-managed technology. Both sides are working to expand institutional access to digital assets and tokenized products. Como joins OKX's board of directors as the exchange continues to strengthen ties with traditional financial institutions and market infrastructure.

OKX also recently launched OKX AI, a market platform designed to allow autonomous artificial intelligence agents to discover jobs, collaborate, trade and build reputation on the chain. The move is part of the company's broader efforts to develop infrastructure for digital assets and emerging technology applications. At the end of May 2026, OKX Ventures acquired a US$53 million stake in South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Coinone, strengthening the company's presence in Asia and supporting its broader expansion in the regulated digital asset market.
