Ramp launches stablecoin accounts and payment functions for all customers
Ramp now opens stablecoin accounts and payment services to all customers, allowing companies to hold, send and receive regular U.S. dollars and stablecoins such as USDC and USDT through the same platform. Previously, most finance teams viewed stablecoin payments as an additional nuisance-requiring the use of different wallets, lack of approval controls, and taking hours for manual reconciliations.
During Ramp's public testing phase, a test customer found that stablecoin payments accounted for only 10% of his supplier payments, but consumed half the accounts payable team's time.
Ramp's approach is to integrate stablecoins directly into the company's existing card, billing and accounting systems, so that payments settled in USDC follow the same approval process as payments settled in U.S. dollars.
Andrew Chapello, product manager for stablecoins atRamp, said: "Companies should not need to use another financial system just because payments are settled on a different track."
How it works
Companies can hold stablecoin balances and earn revenue, and pay suppliers or employees directly through stablecoin accounts, checking accounts or related bank accounts without having to recharge any funds in advance. Each transaction is automatically synchronized into the company's existing accounting system and has the same classification and audit trail as regular payments.
stablecoin deposits support seven blockchain networks, including Solana, a high-performance blockchain known for its fast speed and low transaction costs. Solana has increasingly become the preferred tier for stablecoin settlement, and Ramp's inclusion reflects the trend of payment platforms building directly on it, rather than just seeing it as one of many options.
During Ramp's public testing, more than 150 companies have adopted stablecoin accounts, ranging from crypto-native companies to an agricultural company and a church that manages donations. Ramp partnered with Stripe to build the feature, with Stripe's Bridge and Privy infrastructure providing stablecoin issuance and wallet support behind the scenes. stablecoin accounts and payments are now open to all Ramp customers.
