RedotPay launches an XRP-based payment card that integrates RLUSD stablecoins.

RedotPay recently launched a new payment card that allows users to use credit lines backed by XRP to spend on the global Visa network, while using Ripple's RLUSD stablecoins as a settlement layer. The move aims to improve the practicality of XRP ledgers (XRPL) in real-life scenarios and provide digital asset holders with more consumption options.

How XRP mortgage cards work

The card allows users to use their XRP holdings as collateral to unlock credit lines at a loan-to-value ratio (LTV) of 50%. Users can gain liquidity without selling crypto assets, while continuing to enjoy the benefits of XRP's future appreciation. Loans are settled directly on XRPL through Ripple's stablecoin RLUSD, and funds can be immediately used by any merchant around the world that accepts Visa cards.

For users who want to retain XRP exposure, this approach eliminates the need to monetize tokens for daily consumption, providing flexibility for long-term holders and ordinary users. As a bridge connecting blockchain and traditional payment networks, RLUSD leverages the high-speed and low-cost characteristics of XRPL to ensure that every credit card transaction can be settled quickly and efficiently.

Small Dictionary: RLUSD is a stablecoin issued by Ripple on the XRP ledger, aiming to achieve low-cost, high-speed settlement in blockchain-based financial networks.

Functional comparison

RedotPay XRP card: The collateral is XRP (50% LTV), the settlement currency is RLUSD (stablecoin) on XRPL, and the network is Visa, which is used globally.
Traditional credit cards: There is no encrypted collateral, the settlement currency is the national legal tender (such as US dollar and euro), the network is Visa, and it is used globally.

Demand for stablecoin payments continues to grow

RedotPay is a financial technology platform serving more than 100 countries, with more than 8 million users, and an annual payment amount of US$12 billion. The company reported a significant increase in stablecoin-based card transactions this year. Trading volume has increased 80% since January and 250% compared to last year. These data highlight the accelerating application of stablecoins in real-life payments.

Odelia Torteman, head of digital assets at XRPL Commons, and Taylor Bossung, head of corporate affairs at RedotPay, discussed how this new XRP card provides users with the opportunity to unlock spending power through crypto asset collateral. They also pointed out that the financial landscape is undergoing a broader transformation as on-chain lending and blockchain-based remittances gain momentum in global markets.

Odelia Torteman and Taylor Bossung emphasized that XRP cards allow holders to maintain cryptocurrency positions while meeting daily consumer needs, marking an important step in integrating digital assets with real-world payments.

Expand the XRP ecosystem

RedotPay's influence in the XRP ecosystem continues to expand. In May, the company launched enhanced XRP payment capabilities for millions of users. Previously, the platform worked with Ripple to promote XRP-based remittance services in Africa to accelerate the conversion between cryptocurrency and fiat currency and improve the efficiency of cross-border payments.

These latest moves mark a broader transformation for the XRP ledger-it is no longer just a tool for international transfers. Through advances in areas such as stablecoin settlement, tokenized lending, and mainstream card network integration, XRPL is becoming the infrastructure of the digital economy and day-to-day commerce, including the emerging field of AI-driven payments, where autonomous agents are responsible for processing transactions.

By combining RLUSD, XRP Mortgage and Visa's global coverage, RedotPay is building a comprehensive bridge connecting blockchain and traditional finance, promoting innovation in payment systems.
