Samsung plans to integrate stablecoin functionality into Samsung Wallet to provide Galaxy users with digital asset receiving and receiving services.

Samsung announced that it will add stablecoin functionality to its Samsung Wallet app, allowing Galaxy device users to receive and receive digital assets just like traditional payments and membership points. The move aims to turn Wallet into a comprehensive financial solution that supports blockchain technology for millions of users around the world. At present, Samsung has not yet clarified which stablecoins it supports, nor has it announced the specific launch time of the update.

Samsung Wallet integrates stablecoin

As a South Korean technology giant known for its Galaxy smartphones and electronic products, Samsung announced at the latest Galaxy Unpacked event that it will soon introduce stablecoin support for wallet applications. The plan is part of the company's overall strategy to expand digital financial services on its mobile platform.

Samsung has not launched a new dedicated cryptocurrency application, but has directly embedded the blockchain-driven stablecoin function into existing wallets. After integration, Galaxy users can manage payments, membership rewards, authentication and digital assets in one interface. Samsung hopes to turn the wallet into a one-stop center for daily financial activities, integrating traditional payment methods with digital asset management.

There are still several key questions unanswered, including which blockchain networks and stablecoin assets Samsung will support. The company did not disclose the technical partners of this upgrade, nor did it provide a detailed implementation timetable or the first geographical areas covered. However, the announcement shows that Samsung intends to deepen investment in blockchain technology for ordinary consumers.

Based on past experience in crypto cooperation

Last year, Samsung introduced Coinbase integration functionality for Galaxy users in the United States, allowing users to directly purchase and store digital assets through Samsung wallets. Coinbase is the world's leading cryptocurrency exchange, known for its user-friendly platform and secure storage solutions.

The partnership initially covered more than 75 million Galaxy users in the United States, and both sides said they planned to expand digital asset capabilities to more countries. During its U.S. launch, incentive activities helped increase adoption rates, while Samsung Wallet's features continued to expand.

Samsung has also added traditional financial options to its wallet, supporting multiple payment methods, member rewards and digital identity authentication. The launch of Galaxy Card further improves this integrated financial ecosystem, making wallets a multifunctional tool.

Samsung is transforming its wallet into a unified financial platform where users can manage payments, rewards, authentication and stablecoins in the same app, aiming to simplify the digital financial experience for Galaxy device users around the world.

Enterprise blockchain investment and layout

Samsung's investment in blockchain technology is not limited to consumer-oriented products. In May this year, Samsung Securities, Samsung SDS and Samsung Card invested in Dunamu, the parent company of South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, acquiring approximately 4% of the shares, worth approximately 612.8 billion won.

This investment is in line with South Korea's regulatory progress on digital assets and stablecoins. Samsung Securities is working with Dunamu to explore tokenized financial instruments and new encryption services, while Samsung Card evaluates stablecoin payment solutions linked to the Korean Won through its Monimo platform. Samsung SDS leverages its expertise in cloud computing and artificial intelligence to support blockchain projects in this field.

Although Samsung recently decided not to participate in the Open Standard OUSD stablecoin alliance, the company is still focused on promoting stablecoin functionality in its own ecosystem. Embedding stablecoin payments into Samsung wallets is a key step in its long-term blockchain integration strategy on mobile devices.
