XRP Ledger ecosystem is about to activate fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment

The XRP Ledger ecosystem is preparing for the activation of the much-awaited fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment, which is expected to go online in less than two days. According to the latest data from XRPScan, the current countdown is approximately 23 hours in one day and is expected to be implemented on July 29.

Consensus and Amendment Activation

The fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment received 85.71% support in the latest round of voting, successfully reaching a majority consensus among the validators. According to XRP Ledger's amendment system, any change that affects transaction processing requires an 80% absolute majority support to trigger a two-week activation countdown. Once this threshold is reached and continues for a specified time, the amendment will be enabled on the main network.

Verifiers play a key role in overseeing network upgrades, reviewing proposed changes and expressing their intention to approve through a consensus process. This strict voting mechanism is designed to protect the integrity of the ledger and prevent controversial or insufficiently tested changes from being adopted prematurely.

Improvements and past upgrades

Unless unforeseen circumstances arise, the fixCleanup3_2_0 upgrade will integrate multiple important fixes and improvements. This update fixes issues related to single asset vaults, loan agreements, licensed decentralized exchanges (DEX), multi-function tokens, and licensed domains in XRP Ledger.

This latest amendment is part of Ripple's recent priority efforts to improve the security and reliability of XRP Ledger. Earlier this year, Ripple introduced a dedicated AI-assisted red team to proactively find vulnerabilities in the XRP Ledger ecosystem. Ripple is a San Francisco-based enterprise blockchain company that is a major driving force in the development and continued upgrades of XRP Ledger.

This upgrade follows the activation of fixCleanup3_1_3 on May 27, which provides key fixes for NFTs, licensed domains, vaults and loan agreements. That amendment was seen as a direct response to issues that affected the normal operation of these features.

The XRPL 3.2.0 version released in June this year mainly focuses on system cleanup and maintenance. It closed Ripple's backlog of multiple fixes, eliminated old amendments that had been activated for more than two years, and introduced the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment.

Ripple's security efforts have been upgraded since March, when the company announced ongoing security audits by deploying AI-driven red teams. The move is designed to detect and mitigate vulnerabilities that may not affect users or applications on XRP Ledger.

Version 3.1.3, which includes previous changes to fixCleanup3_1_3, is the first security-focused update under these enhanced monitoring efforts.

Looking to the future

Once launched, the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment is expected to improve protocol reliability and user experience for projects and applications that rely on XRP Ledger. If there are no last-minute challenges, the mainnetwork upgrade will proceed as planned.
