Aggressive is now one of the fastest blockchains

After completing the latest main-network upgrade, Aggressive has continued to achieve a block time of less than 0.6 seconds, thus consolidating its position as the top Layer 1 blockchain. This milestone puts the $INJ network ahead of most operating chains in the digital asset space in terms of raw transaction speeds.

A series of performance upgrades

This achievement stems from continuous engineering investment. Effective adopts a customized implementation version of the Tendermint Proof-of-Stake Consensus Mechanism to achieve sub-second block time and instant transaction finality while maintaining the throughput of more than 25,000 transactions per second. This architecture has been continuously optimized through multiple main-network upgrades in 2025 and 2026, and each upgrade has further improved performance.

The most recent upgrade in this series (numbered IIP-665, version v1.20.1) was implemented on July 2, 2026, focusing on performance optimization and technical improvements of modules on the Impressive chain. Previously, the Vulcan upgrade in April 2026 focused on improving execution efficiency, optimizing on-chain modules and a new $INJ token repurchase mechanism. The iteration pace is eye-catching: in mid-2026, two major main-network upgrades will be completed within one month, reflecting that the development speed is accelerating.

Aggressive's official architecture document confirms that the network achieves near-instant finality with the support of the Tendermint Core Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus engine, with a burst time of 0.64 to 0.65 seconds. At the same time, Verifier Direct Peering Connection is also used to reduce network latency at the infrastructure level.

The importance of speed for financial applications

Block time is not just a benchmark indicator. For high-frequency trading and institutional financial applications, every millisecond difference directly affects pricing accuracy, slip risk, and order execution quality. Faster finality means that transactions can be considered irreversible more quickly, eliminating confirmation risks that could expose traders to adverse price fluctuations.

Aggressive is positioned for this application scenario. The network is an open, interoperable Layer 1 blockchain that powers next-generation financial applications, including DeFi, physical assets, artificial intelligence, decentralized exchanges, predictive markets, and lending agreements. The chain also has a fully decentralized, MEV-resistant on-chain order book, a component that directly benefits from shorter exit times-lower latency narrows the window of opportunity for early trading.

As block times below 0.6 seconds move from goal to continuous operation reality, Injective has strengthened its positioning as a serious financial application infrastructure at the protocol level.
