Dr. Kamilah Stevenson proposes six upgrade plans for XRP ledgers to help institutions apply
Dr. Kamilah Stevenson, a blockchain strategist known as "Doctor of Fortune", proposed a set of upgrade plans for XRP ledgers that include six improvements, aiming to increase the appeal of the public network to banks and businesses. The proposals focus on implementing confidential transfers and enhancing compliance capabilities to address key issues organizations face when considering using public blockchains.
Confidential transfers and compliance become a focus
Dr. Stevenson emphasized that financial institutions and companies are cautious about using public blockchain networks to process sensitive transactions mainly because transaction data-including balances, counterparties and time information-is visible to anyone with access to the network. She pointed out that this transparency undermines privacy and confidentiality, which are uncompromising requirements for many companies operating under regulatory frameworks.
In her proposal, the confidential transfer feature would hide the transaction amount from public viewing, while the ledger would still verify the legitimacy of each transaction and ensure that improper asset creation would not occur. Dr. Stevenson believes that this privacy mechanism is crucial for companies to adopt the technology.
"When technology touches ordinary people, it is invisible," Dr. Stevenson said. She pointed out that consumers can use products built based on upgraded XRP ledgers without having to purchase XRP or even knowing that blockchain technology supports the application.
Small Dictionary: XRP Ledger (XRPL) is an open source, decentralized blockchain widely used for fast, low-cost cross-border payments.
Other upgrade features
In addition to confidential transfers, this upgrade package also covers multiple operational and technical requirements. Bulk transactions allow multiple operations to be combined and executed, all successful or all failed, improving the efficiency of enterprise workflows. Delegation of rights envisions granting limited account rights, allowing relevant people or automated processes to obtain specific rights without sharing a full private key.
Integrated dynamic NFT-tokens with updatable attributes after issuance-is expected to attract more corporate and consumer applications. In addition, node performance improvements can reduce memory usage by up to 40%, reducing infrastructure costs for network participants.
Features and Target Users
Confidential transfers: Provide privacy protection for transaction details, and target users are banks and corporations.
Bulk trading: Multiple operations are performed in a single step, targeting institutional users.
Permission delegation: Controls account access rights. The target user is a corporate account.
Dynamic NFT: Modifiable token features, targeting developers and enterprises.
Node performance upgrade: Improve memory efficiency, target users are network validators.
Governance and Upgrade Process
According to the XRP ledger governance model, any revision or upgrade requires continuous support from at least 80% of validators within two weeks. If the approval rating falls below this threshold at any time, the activation timer will be reset. Dr. Stevenson said the conservative agreement was deliberately designed to provide stability and predictability to institutions evaluating long-term infrastructure investments.
All proposed functions must go through the revision process before they can officially take effect on the XRP ledger. Currently, the upgrade plan has not yet announced a specific date or the number of validators.
As these features are still in the proposal stage, there is currently no market price change or adoption data directly attributable to this potential upgrade. Final implementation will depend on community support, validator consensus, and resolving any technical or compliance issues during the approval process.
If these upgrades are adopted, the XRP ledger may expand its appeal to regulated companies, but actual integration still needs to further comply with compliance requirements and demonstrate the existence of corporate needs.
