Negative sentiment towards Bitcoin on social media hits record high

Cryptocurrency data analysis company Sanitation announced that negative sentiment towards Bitcoin on social media has reached an all-time high. According to the company's data, the ratio of positive to negative comments on platforms such as X, Reddit, and Telegram has dropped to its lowest point since Sanctuary used its modern social media monitoring system.

Sanitation pointed out that firmware vulnerabilities affecting Coldcard devices were one of the main reasons for market panic. According to reports, the incident has been particularly severe for investors because the attack directly questioned the security of personal storage and cold wallet systems-which many investors believe is the most secure way to protect encrypted assets.

The analyst firm recalled that larger crises have occurred in the past, such as FTX and Mt. The collapse of Gox and the Black Thursday during the COVID-19 epidemic. However, the impact of the Coldcard incident on individual investors is different. According to Sanctuary, the discussion focused more on the overall security of hardware and cold wallets than on centralized exchanges, cross-chain bridges or leveraged trading platforms that are often criticized.

Data shows that for every negative comment about Bitcoin, there are only 0.58 positive comments. As a result, fear has significantly surpassed greed and reached historical levels.

Sanitation pointed out that the current data only covers a one-day period. Still, the current level of panic is higher than the peak of war panic earlier this year and exceeds the panic record on social media during previous major crypto crises.
