Cardano finally ushered in the major trend that traders had been patiently waiting for.
ADA prices have been stagnant below US$0.20 for several weeks, then successfully broke through to the US$0.20 to US$0.21 range, and then fell back to a low around US$0.199. What makes this trend special is that it does not occur at a time when the overall cryptocurrency market is surging. At that time, Bitcoin's trend was relatively stable, but Cardano managed to rise, attracting a new round of attention from traders.
Cardano's 20% breakthrough: What happened?
We looked at the latest ADA chart and the structural changes were obvious. For most of July, the ADA fluctuated within a relatively narrow range of about $0.15 to $0.18. This narrow range was finally broken in early August, and ADA prices rose to near July highs.
Breakouts from range are accompanied by higher trading volume than during consolidation periods. The ADA has since retreated, but this correction has been accompanied by a decline in trading volume, suggesting more profit-taking than a sell-off.
Why is ADA rising now?
The biggest driving force is Cardano's upgrade roadmap. Mintern shared that developers are preparing for an upgrade to Ouroboros Leios, which aims to increase transaction throughput by up to 50 times. The Musashi Dojo testnet was launched in June, and the team expects the main network to be ready in about four months.

Large players have also been actively buying. In the past five days, more than 240 million ADAs have been increased. Wallets holding at least 1 million ADAs currently control 67.47% of the circulating supply, the highest level since July 2020. When whales accumulate during periods of weakness, they tend to reduce the available supply on exchanges.
Regulation is another reason for traders 'concern. Markets are focusing on the pending CLARITY Act and the August 9 ETF eligibility milestone related to CME ADA futures. If positive progress is made in these areas, it may improve agency access to the ADA.
Chart keys that bulls have been waiting for
The technical threshold for this analysis is clear: $0.20. ADA prices have successfully exceeded this level and are currently trying to establish it as a support level. The momentum slowed down after the breakthrough, but it has not yet turned downward.
The RSI is at 56 and the ultimate swing indicator is at 53, both in the neutral to bullish range. In short, ADA is no longer overbought, and buyers still have room to continue to push up prices. As long as ADA prices remain above approximately $0.198 to $0.200, this round of breakthroughs will continue. A break below $0.195 would be the first sign of weakness for buyers.
Is this trend sustainable or a trap?
This is the focus of most traders. Things look much better now than they did a month ago, but there are still some factors that caution. Cardano's DeFi ecosystem is currently quite limited. CryptoBasic data shows its TVL is US$68.17 million, compared with US$41.32 billion for Ethereum and US$4.78 billion for Solana.# Cardano's decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem continues to lose steam, although many community members still believe the network is on the verge of a major turnaround. Cardano still needs to be done to compete with the largest smart contract ecosystem. The recent correction also reminds us not to chase gains. If the ADA falls below the $0.20 level, traders may turn their attention to the $0.18 to $0.17 area.
Where might ADA prices go next?
If buyers can hold on to the $0.20 range, the primary goal will be to test the $0.21 barrier. If this range can be clearly exceeded, the path to US$0.23 to US$0.24 will be opened.
For now, ADA prices have completed an important task: breaking through weeks of consolidation and turning the short-term market structure in favor of bulls. The next few trading days will tell us whether this breakthrough has enough power to develop into a larger trend.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the CLARITY Act affect the ADA?
If the CLARITY Act provides clearer regulatory treatment for ADA as a digital good, it could improve institutional access and support future investment products related to Cardano-related.
Is Cardano's DeFi ecosystem growing?
Cardano's DeFi ecosystem is still relatively small, with a total lock-in value of approximately US$68 million, which is well below Ethereum and Solana. The growth of DeFi activity remains an important long-term challenge for the network.
