BNB Chain improves test network throughput by 88% through BEP-675 upgrade.
BNB Chain reported that with the advancement of BEP-675 testing, BNB Smart Chain (BSC) test network throughput has achieved significant improvement. According to the official BNB Chain X account, ongoing testing on QANet, the network's internal test network designed to highly simulate BSC cross-regional verifier configurations, has yielded substantial results.
BEP-675 brings efficiency improvements
BEP-675 provides key improvements to block construction, allowing builders to directly submit fully executed blocks to the verifier. This allows verifiers to skip regular re-execution steps before finalizing blocks, resulting in significant performance advantages. When tested on QANet, this update increased throughput by 88%, from 1237 transactions per second (TPS) to 2324 TPS. These improvements do not make adjustments to Gas limits or block spacing.
This upgrade aims to broaden the way for BSC scalability by eliminating redundant block execution processes. By reducing the trade-off between higher Gas quotas and shorter builder availability time, the network can expand throughput more flexibly.
As the BSC prepares for the next phase, further testing will assess whether these throughput improvements can be sustained at the size of the main network and combined with other enhancements planned for the second half of 2026. The introduction of BEP-675 will also be accompanied by additional performance tuning and integration, such as block-level access lists and execution optimizations within the Ethereum virtual machine.
BNB Chain has developed a performance priority roadmap focusing on BEP-675 and related upgrades, setting doubling BSC main network throughput as a near-term goal, and setting a long-term improvement goal for the entire ecosystem at a 10-fold improvement.
2026 Roadmap: Focus on extensibility and accessibility
BNB Chain's technology roadmap for the second half of 2026 sets three core goals. First of all, the network is committed to doubling throughput through the introduction of BEP-675 and related optimizations, immediately promoting BSC to achieve a 2-fold improvement, and long-term pursuit of a 10-fold performance enhancement of the entire BNB Chain.
Secondly, BNB Chain is developing advanced resource isolation mechanisms to limit mutual interference between different applications on the network. This step is expected to provide users and developers with a smoother and more predictable performance experience.
Third, the chain is optimizing its Gas fee structure. The goal is to reduce barriers to entry for companies in the Web2 and Web3 spaces and make it easier for new services to adopt and operate on BNB Chain.
In the first half of 2026, important milestones achieved include shortening the block interval to 450 milliseconds and ultimately reducing memory to 650 milliseconds, which helped nearly double throughput in performance benchmarks. The current goal for the second half of the year is still focused on doubling the throughput of the main network again while moving towards the long-term expansion goal.
Next Generation Layer 1 and Ecosystem Support
BNB Chain is continuing to advance the development of the next generation Layer 1 architecture. This new design is designed to accommodate a wider range of use cases and provide greater flexibility and capacity to meet the growing needs of the ecosystem.
The network's roadmap emphasizes three core priorities: optimizing execution for faster and more stable network performance; promoting ecosystem growth by providing more support to builders and institutional participants; and driving innovation by focusing on pipelines for next-generation progress, including the new Layer 1.
With BEP-675, BNB Chain is improving builders 'processing efficiency through initiatives such as BAL integration and EVM execution improvements, while promoting higher throughput and adoption across its expanding ecosystem.
Against the backdrop of these technology upgrades and performance milestones, BNB Chain's vision for seamless portfolio diversification and enhanced market access is also reflected in emerging solutions such as 1stepSwap. This practical platform connects traditional finance with blockchain by bringing real-world assets into the network. Users can access shares of major U.S. companies and commodities such as gold and silver directly from their wallets, eliminating complex steps or intermediate links. 1stepSwap obtains the best prices on the market, allowing users to quickly buy and sell major stocks at favorable exchange rates and efficiently expand their holdings.
