Cryptocurrency card consumption hits a new high in July 2026

In July 2026, the use of cryptocurrency payment cards experienced an unprecedented surge, with expenditures reaching US$759 million-the highest since October 2023. This significant increase shows that the trend of using cryptocurrency balances for daily transactions is becoming increasingly obvious, in line with the widespread acceptance of digital financial mechanisms.

What are the growth drivers?

Cryptocurrency card consumption more than doubled from US$306 million in the same period last year and a 2.5-fold increase compared to July 2025. At the beginning of the monitoring, monthly usage was less than US$1 million, highlighting the huge growth in the field over the past three years.

In July, the number of cryptocurrency card transactions was close to 9 million, a significant increase from last year's 5.2 million, showing a significant increase in transaction frequency. The average transaction volume is $86, indicating that users prefer to use these cards for daily consumption rather than large transfers. Although the total transaction volume is still small compared to traditional card platforms, stablecoins are increasingly being used for daily consumer expenditures.

Which networks lead the market?

Data shows that RedotPay has become the market leader, with transaction volume reaching US$395.1 million in July, up from US$266.4 million last year. EtherFi and KAST contributed US$100.3 million and US$89.6 million respectively. Together, these three platforms accounted for approximately 77% of the total spent tracked that month.

EtherFi followed closely, contributing US$100.3 million.
KAST added another $89.6 million.

Stable coins, especially those pegged to the US dollar, dominate consumption trends. Circle's USDC alone accounted for about 58% of spending, while Tether's USDT accounted for another 26%. These figures are in sharp contrast to the 88% share of the euro-pegged stablecoin EURe two years ago, when EURe now accounts for only 2%.

Visa records show significant growth in card activity backed by stablecoins, processing US$5.2 billion in transactions in 2025. Through a partnership with Stripe's Bridge, Visa plans to launch cryptocurrency card services in more than 100 countries by the end of this year.

Despite the upward trend, cryptocurrency card payments still account for only a small portion of the overall payment space. Visa's total processing volume in 2025 will be US$14.2 trillion, and cryptocurrency card transactions account for only 0.04% of this.
