The monthly TD buy signal brings ETH's US$3000 target back into view
The US$2000 breakthrough becomes Ethereum's recent technical test
ETF capital inflows and declining volatility strengthen the trend structure of Ethereum
Ethereum's monthly TD sequence flashed two buy signals, bringing the US$3000 technical target back into focus. ETH needs to rise about 85% from its current $1625 to reach Ali Charts 'target of $3000. van de Poppe pointed out that continued breakthroughs above $2000 may expose resistance to the $2300 to $2600 range. The U.S. spot Ethereum ETF recorded a net inflow of approximately US$255.6 million between August 4 and 7.
With the combined effect of monthly momentum signals, narrowing trading ranges and continued inflows of institutional funds, Ethereum price forecasts are shifting in a more optimistic direction. Analysts believe that US$2000 is the first technical barrier that ETH needs to overcome before moving towards a broader US$3000 goal.
Monthly TD buy signals bring ETH's $3000 target back into view
Ali Charts said that Ethereum has two TD series buy signals on its monthly chart, including a black 9 and an S13. The indicator tracks trend exhaustion through Setup on nine K-lines and Countdown on thirteen K-lines, revealing areas where momentum may weaken.
His chart connects previous monthly signals to several major movements in ETH: the A13 sell signal in April 2022 heralded a decline of about 75%, while the black 9 signal in September 2022 appeared before a rise of 236%. More recently, the A13 buy signal in April 2025 was followed by a 258% rebound. Based on this historical pattern, Ali pointed out that if the latest form is confirmed,$3000 will come back into view.
Currently, ETH is about US$1625, and an increase of about 85% is needed to reach US$3000. However, a single signal alone cannot confirm a reversal. DeMARK's sequential framework only identifies potential trend failures, not guarantees direction. Therefore, before the monthly pattern strengthens, higher lows and recovered resistance levels remain important confirmation conditions.
The US$2000 breakthrough becomes Ethereum's recent technical test
In the broader monthly context, Michaël van de Poppe's short-term analysis narrows the focus to Ethereum's current US$1800 to US$2000 trading range. He pointed out that $1800 is the key support, and that continuing to stand above $2000 may change the current market structure. He positioned ETH at around $1915 in the August 7 chart, with immediate support around $1825. At the same time, the analysis pointed out that if buyers regain control of the situation, about $2465 will become the next major resistance level. On top of that, the chart also marks a wider resistance area between $2500 and $2600. Therefore, any move towards $3000 would require Ethereum to first break through multiple clear technical barriers.
ETF capital inflows and declining volatility strengthen the trend structure of Ethereum
Option data also shows that volatility has cooled in the near future during the consolidation period. Glassnode's Ethereum DVOL index closed at 47.44 on August 7, after remaining above 50 in July. The decline suggests that traders are pricing smaller expected price fluctuations while ETH is still within range. At the same time, the U.S. spot Ethereum ETF continues to attract funds. According to Farside Investors, the funds recorded net inflows of approximately $255.6 million between August 4 and 7. These capital flows add an institutional dimension to markets that are testing important technical levels.
Taken together, these data explain why Ethereum price forecasts have turned more bullish. The monthly TD signal points to improving macro conditions, while $2000 remains the immediate confirmation level. After continuing to break through this level, the resistance area of US$2300 to US$2600 will first be exposed. Only after these obstacles are cleared will the $3000 target become technically realistic.
