With Bitcoin's recent strong rebound, voices predicting that it may exceed US$100,000 before the end of the year have also begun to increase.

Against this background, Standard Chartered Bank assesses that its previously announced target price of US$100,000 for Bitcoin at the end of 2026 may be too conservative.

Jeff Kendrick, head of digital asset research at the bank, said that after the recent rally, Bitcoin's prospects have become more optimistic.

Kendrick pointed out in his latest client report: "For the first time this year, my year-end forecast of $100,000 risks being significantly underestimated."

The analyst also predicted that Bitcoin's rally may further strengthen after October 6 and is expected to hit a previous all-time high of $126,000 before the end of the year.

Kendrick also analyzed that the recent rise in Bitcoin is mainly due to the liquidation of short positions. He added that the recovery of cash inflows into spot bitcoin ETFs also played a role.

According to Kendrick, this round of rise was largely driven by the closing of short positions. However, the rebound in cash Bitcoin ETF inflows suggests that the rally could extend to a wider investor base.

Kendrick previously lowered Bitcoin's year-end target price from $150,000 to $100,000. He also predicted that Bitcoin would first fall to $50,000 and then rise back to $100,000 before the end of the year. However, the bank's latest assessment shows that with Bitcoin's recent strong rise, the market has renewed optimism about the target price.
