Cryptocurrency markets often change the overall mood and narrative tone in a very short period of time. Although some people may have forgotten this characteristic due to the continued downturn of the past few months, what has happened in the past 48 to 72 hours has once again given us a glimpse of the true nature of the market.
Bitcoin prices lingered below $65,000 for weeks before launching one of the most eye-catching gains of the year. In just a few days, the currency surged 25%, approaching $80,000 on Friday, its highest level since the May market. The question now is, does this mark the end of a bear market and the beginning of a bull market, or will it be beaten back to its original shape again?
Yes, but there is a premise
To gain a deeper understanding of this situation, we consulted three of the most popular artificial intelligence chat bots-ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok. OpenAI's ChatGPT gave an optimistic start, noting that the bear market "is likely to end at the July low" when the cryptocurrency fell below $58,000 for the first time since late 2024.
However, the AI also admitted that there is no official confirmation yet, adding that it believes that the probability that US$57,800 will reach the bottom of the cycle is 70%, while the probability that Bitcoin will soar to US$80,000 is a 30% chance. It is just an "extremely violent bear market rally."
Interestingly, Gemini and Grok largely agree. "Macroeconomic confirmation is needed to declare the bear market completely over, but structural data at the end of 2026 strongly suggests that we are at a significant turning point," Gemini said. Grok is also cautiously bullish, pointing out that Bitcoin appears to be out of trouble unless another major negative catalyst emerges, such as an escalation of war in the Middle East, a U.S. interest rate hike, or some completely unexpected event.
Not yet won
It is worth noting that all three AIs mentioned the rebound in mid-May, when Bitcoin rose to $83,000. They also warned that there was no guarantee that Bitcoin would not repeat the same mistake and plummet again. As a result, ChatGPT pointed out that the real test for the cryptocurrency has not yet come.
Although analysts such as Ali Martinez believe the next major resistance is $83,000, OpenAI's ChatGPT points out that Bitcoin must break through the $85,000 - 90,000 range before the bulls can declare victory. At the same time, Grok added:
"Bitcoin's price was around $88,500 at the beginning of 2026, and it soared to more than $97,000 in January. Even if it goes back to $80,000 now, it is still about 37% below the all-time high of $126,000. In other words, Bitcoin did have a surprising rebound, but the entire bear market structure has not yet been repaired."
Gemini also warned that a sharp rise will not erase months of decline. To do this, Bitcoin must hold on to its recent gains and establish a new support range of $77,000 to $78,000 over the next month. If this is done, then "the bear market cycle can be safely declared over."
