Kaspa has traded well below previous highs for most of 2026, yet an important ranking paints a very different picture of the project.
In CoinMarketCap's community sentiment ranking, KAS has always led some of the giants in the cryptocurrency space, including Bitcoin, XRP and Ethereum.
Combined with Kaspa's recent network development, this ranking has become more interesting. The Toccata upgrade has been available for about seven weeks, activity on Igra has increased, and KAS prices have climbed from around $0.0253 on August 18 to a high of $0.0310 on August 22.
Kaspa's Toccata upgrade began to be used seven weeks after activation
BSCN paid attention to the CoinMarketCap rankings, pointing out that Kaspa has been at the top of the list for several consecutive weeks. PUMP, PEPE, Worldcoin and Pi Coin also appeared in the front position, but KAS always led.
The question now is why Kaspa maintains this ranking despite the larger market capitalization and wider recognition of Bitcoin, XRP and Ethereum.
Kaspa leads Bitcoin, XRP and Ethereum in the CoinMarketCap community sentiment rankings.
BSCN reported that as the cryptocurrency market generally recovers, about 90% of crypto assets show bullish sentiment. But Kaspa still stands out among many assets.
CoinMarketCap's community sentiment ranking ranks KAS first. The top ten rankings shared by BSCN are as follows:
Ranking| Cryptocurrency
1| Kaspa (KAS)
2 |Pump.fun (PUMP)
3| Pepe (PEPE)
4 | Worldcoin (WLD)
5 | Pi Coin (PI)
6 | Bitcoin (BTC)
7 | XRP
8 | Dogecoin (DOGE)
9 | Ethereum (ETH)
10 |Solana (SOL)
This ranking does not mean that Kaspa exceeds Bitcoin, XRP or Ethereum in market value, adoption rate or network size. It measures community sentiment on CoinMarketCap, which is important.
Kaspa's ability to remain first for several weeks in a row provides background for the rankings. KAS wasn't there just because the mood was high one day.
Although Bitcoin is the largest cryptocurrency, it ranks only sixth. XRP followed closely in seventh place, and Dogecoin ranked eighth. Ethereum ranks ninth and Solana ranks tenth.
Kaspa's Toccata upgrade begins to generate measurable network activity
Kaspa's recent progress provides some clues to understanding why interest around the network continues to surge.
The Toccata hard fork was activated on June 30, expanding the possibilities for developers to build based on Kaspa. This upgrade introduces zero-knowledge verification and contract capabilities, giving Kaspa programmable Layer 1 capabilities that exceed its original payment-oriented design.
BSCN reported that Kaspalytics recorded 1,196 transactions creating contracts in the last 24 hours. More than 2,700 contract outputs were created during the same period.
The use of zero-knowledge functions is still small. Only 9 ZK precompiled transactions were recorded during this time period, distributed between Groth16 and R0 Successive proof verification.
Igra provides larger activity data. This Kaspa-based EVM-compatible Layer 2 processed approximately 54,000 transactions in 24 hours. The KRC inscription followed closely, with approximately 1,900 transactions.
Post-Toccata versions of the software also seem to have high adoption rates on the network. BSCN reported that 86% of recent blocks came from version 2.0.1 nodes.
These data provide Kaspa supporters with measurable indicators beyond KAS price fluctuations. Toccata is online and some of its new infrastructure is being used.
Kaspa's fair launch structure may become even more important under new U.S. encryption regulations
Kaspa supporter David (X platform user name @ davievw_) believes that regulatory developments may become another important factor in the coming months.
David mentioned the CLARITY bill and its expected Senate procedural vote on September 15. He also focused on several features that distinguish Kaspa from many encryption projects.

Kaspa has no ICO, pre-mining, pre-allocation or VC token unlocking structures. The network is launched fairly, uses a proof-of-work mechanism, and operates without centralized governance. Its maximum supply is approximately 28.7 billion KAS, and every KAS that enters circulation comes from mining.
More than 96% of this maximum supply is already in circulation. Compared with the early stages of the network, supply inflation caused by future mining will be relatively small.
David's point is that clearer U.S. crypto regulations may increase the importance of decentralization and distribution structures. The CLARITY Act has not yet become law, so its ultimate impact on Kaspa remains uncertain.
Still, if future regulations distinguish between decentralized networks and projects controlled by companies or small groups, Kaspa's existing structure could become an important part of the discussion.
KAS prices rose about 14% in a strong five days
After spending most of 2026 in a relatively narrow range, KAS prices have also begun to move higher.
Kaspa traded at approximately US$0.0253 on August 18, and rose to approximately US$0.0269 the next day. KAS reached approximately $0.0280 on August 20 and climbed to approximately $0.0289 on August 21.
On August 22, prices were between approximately US$0.0290 and US$0.0310, with an increase of nearly 14.6% in five days since the August 18 level.
The US$0.0300 area is now an important location that needs attention. Kaspa has fluctuated between $0.025 and $0.035 for most of this year, so if prices continue to break through the upper edge of this range, it will change the price structure of KAS in the near term.
Commercial utility has also been expanded through the integration of NOWPayments, but Kaspa has faced setbacks in derivatives. Coinbase plans to remove the KAS perpetual contract on September 3, which could restrict access to the derivatives market.
Just because Kaspa beat Bitcoin, XRP, and Ethereum in the CoinMarketCap community sentiment rankings does not mean KAS has surpassed these assets in the broader cryptocurrency market. Bitcoin and Ethereum are still far larger networks in terms of market capitalisation, while XRP is much broader in terms of exchange visibility and institutional infrastructure.
Interestingly, Kaspa was able to remain number one for weeks while its underlying network changed.
Toccata has introduced programmable functions, Igra processes tens of thousands of transactions every day, more than 96% of KAS supply is already in circulation, and KAS prices have recently rebounded to around US$0.0300.
