Take-Two shares fell 6.7% to $219.70 on Monday, Becoming the fifth worst performing stock in the S & P 500 index

Market analysts attributed the decline to delayed speculation rather than leaked GTA VI clips

Netflix's exclusive GTA VI gameplay premiere attracted 31.1 million viewers and topped the list in 87 of 93 countries.

Bank of America believes that after the release of the full gameplay clip, There is little chance of further postponement

Analysts 'consensus rating on TTWO remains a "strong buy" with an average target price of US$297.29

Take-Two's share price experienced significant downward pressure on Monday, falling 6.7% to US$219.70, amid growing speculation that Grand Theft Auto VI may be postponed again.

Social media initially attributed the sell-off to unauthorized GTA VI gameplay clips circulating online. However, market analysts disagree with this interpretation.

Nick McKay, senior research analyst at Freedom Capital Markets, said the decline was due to delayed speculation rather than leaks. He described the postponement rumors as "low quality" in a research paper on Monday.

McKay cited recent statements from Rockstar Games executive Rob Nelson, who reiterated in an August 28 interview with Famitsu that the development schedule would remain unchanged.

Analysts at Jefferies supported this assessment, pointing out that the leaked footage had little impact on stock price performance.

Omar Dessouky of Bank of America said further delays seemed unlikely. "The release of a full gameplay clip suggests that the probability of another postponement is extremely low, as this disclosure proves that the game has reached playable status," his analysis pointed out.

Before Monday's decline, TWO closed at $235.39 on Friday after the gameplay trailer premiered on Netflix and YouTube on August 27. That was 1% higher than Thursday's close.

Netflix premiere breaks viewing records

The exclusive premiere attracted a high degree of participation on Netflix. The approximately 27-minute gameplay display received a total of 31.1 million views, making it the best performing content on the streaming media platform that week.

This video ranks first in 87 of the 93 markets monitored by Netflix. The platform remained exclusive for six hours before the content became available on YouTube and competing platforms.

The ratings of the gameplay trailer even surpassed Netflix's new film "The Whisperer" starring Robert De Niro and the fifth season premiere of "The Bund". This marks the first time Netflix has cooperated to promote unreleased game works.

This enthusiasm builds on existing momentum. The first trailer for GTA VI released in 2023 has received approximately 293 million views on YouTube so far.

Unauthorized content fails to dampen enthusiasm

Take-Two has always faced challenges from unauthorized content distribution. Before the authorized premiere, more than a dozen GTA VI gameplay clips had appeared on the Internet. The publisher then issued a subpoena to messaging platform Discord in an attempt to identify the source.

In a statement posted on X on August 26, Rockstar Games described the unauthorized leak as "heartbreaking" and apologized for the game's previous postponement. The work was originally scheduled to be released in the fall, was later postponed to May 2026, and is currently scheduled to be released on November 19.

Leaked content ultimately failed to dampen consumer interest, and data from Netflix's premiere provides strong evidence of continued strong demand.

Analyst Consensus currently gives TTWO a "strong buy" rating, with a total of 18 buy recommendations issued in the past three months. The average target price is $297.29, which means there is about 37% room for upside from current trading levels.
