Core Points
Citizens maintain Uber's "outperform" rating with a target price of $100, after Uber proposed to acquire Delivery Hero.
Uber's bid price is 41.50 euros per share, with a corresponding equity value of approximately US$13.7 billion.
The deal will add 24 new takeout delivery areas to areas where Uber currently operates travel services.
TD Cowen and Guggenheim both maintain a "buy" rating with target prices of US$118 and US$125 respectively.
According to GuruFocus analysis, Uber's intrinsic value is US$96.98, and its current stock price is at a discount of approximately 25% to fair value.
Takeout business expansion
Uber Technologies is making a major expansion of its takeout business. The travel giant has offered to buy Delivery Hero for 41.50 euros per share, which values Delivery Hero's stake at approximately $13.7 billion, considering Uber's previous stake.
The proposed deal quickly attracted Wall Street's attention. Citizens took the lead in releasing analyst comments, maintaining its "outperform" rating and setting a target price of $100. When the company released its analysis, Uber's share price was trading at approximately $72.46.
Citizens analyst Andrew Boone said the deal price is about 8 times expected EBITDA in 2027. This represents a significant discount to Uber's current EV/EBITDA multiple of 20.78 times, indicating that the deal is economically beneficial if synergies are successfully achieved.
The investment institution believes that this pricing is reasonable considering expected operating benefits. Citizens believes the delivery business has a stronger competitive moat than the travel business, which enhances the strategic value of the deal.
The 24 new geographical areas acquired through the acquisition of Delivery Hero complement existing areas where Uber currently operates online ride-hailing services. This geographical synergy may help integrate easier than entering completely unfamiliar markets.
The deal is in line with Uber's overall vision of creating a comprehensive "super app"-a unified platform that integrates transportation, food takeout, fresh groceries, convenience goods and retail services. This acquisition greatly advances this goal in one fell swoop.
Wall Street View
TD Cowen also maintains a "buy" rating on Uber and reiterates its $118 price target. Analyst John Blackledge highlighted the strong momentum in the takeout business and expected total bookings to reach US$57.1 billion in the second quarter, a year-on-year increase of 22.2%.
Guggenheim also maintains a "buy" rating, giving Wall Street's most optimistic price target of $125. The company is concerned about Uber's deployment of autonomous vehicles and expects the autonomous driving service to be operating in 18 cities around the world by the end of the year, exceeding the original forecast of 15 cities.
Jefferies also joined the bullish camp, setting a target price of $110. The company focuses on maintaining a high ten-digit percentage growth in travel bookings while monitoring the performance of the delivery division in the face of more challenging year-on-year comparisons.
Interpretation of current valuation
GuruFocus estimates Uber's intrinsic GF value at $96.98, indicating that the current stock price of $72.61 is approximately a 25.1% discount to fair value. The GF score given by the platform is 82 points (out of 100 points).
The company performed well on growth metrics (9/10) and valuation metrics (8/10). Profitability scores 5/10, which is the area analysts believe needs the main improvement.
Uber's P/E ratio for the past twelve months was 18.11 times, slightly below its five-year median of 18.51 times. In the past three months, company insiders have neither bought nor sold shares.
TD Cowen confirmed its "Buy" rating on July 17, 2026, which coincides with the release of the Citizens report.
