CryptoRank: Only 7% of major new crypto tokens outperform their offer prices

According to a study by CryptoRank, only approximately 7% of major new crypto tokens are still traded above their offer price, which means that the vast majority of high-profile listings are currently priced below the level they were when they were first traded. The findings come from a research report released by CryptoRank, which stated that approximately 92.9% of major token offerings currently trade at prices lower than their token generation event (TGE) prices. The issue price here refers to the token generation event, which is the price when the token is first tradeable. In short, according to CryptoRank's review of tokens traded below the issue price, only a few tokens of the offerings tracked have maintained or increased in value since listing, and the rest of the tokens are priced below the level they were at when public transactions began.

Performance of new tokens revealed by issue price gaps

This result is best interpreted as a post-launch performance issue for large tokens rather than a proof of all tokens in the entire market. CryptoRank's research focuses on major tokens, and its related work specifically examines the profitability of alternative coins issued since 2024.

The key message for investors considering newly listed tokens is this: In the sample studied, tokens purchased on the first day more often experienced a decline in value than an increase. This is a statement about the performance of these tokens after listing, not a comprehensive census of the entire crypto asset market, and it is related to broader price movements of major assets, but this study does not attempt to explain these movements.

The unconfirmed conclusions of this study

This paper does not independently replicate the CryptoRank dataset. Existing research on this matter is only partially verified, with limited independent market, on-chain or expert support for cross-checking data. Therefore, this statement should be regarded as a result of the CryptoRank report, rather than an established, independently confirmed fact. Readers should not regard the 7% figure as a definite count for the entire token field. This article is only loyal to the data released by CryptoRank and does not extend it to broader conclusions.
