FXRP approved its first institutional lending vault on Ethereum
XRP holders now have a new way to leverage their assets.
Flare's FXRP has been approved as collateral for Sentora's RLUSD main vault on Morpho, marking the first time a version of XRP has been accepted as collateral by an institution-managed lending vault on Ethereum.
The operating process is relatively simple: users cast FXRP on Flare, cross-chain it to Ethereum through Stargate, deposit FXRP in the lending market on Morpho Blue, and then lend RLUSD in the form of collateral. The entire process will not affect XRP's exposure.
The lending market is located within Sentora's RLUSD main vault, which holds approximately US$280 million in RLUSD deposits and is the largest institution-managed RLUSD vault on Ethereum.
Sentora said it had reviewed FXRP's market behavior, oracle design, liquidity and clearing mechanisms before approving it as collateral.
Flare CEO Hugo Philion believes the review is significant in itself, noting: "XRP is now a collateral underwritten by the institutional risk team on the Ethereum main network, which is more recognizable than being listed on another cross-chain bridge."
XRP's "WBTC Moment"
model is a direct analogy to Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), which allows Bitcoin holders to use their assets in Ethereum-based DeFi without selling BTC. FXRP aims to implement the same functionality for XRP, allowing holders to enter Ethereum's lending market.
This timing also coincides with the broad momentum of Ripple stablecoins. RLUSD runs simultaneously on XRP ledgers and Ethereum. Its dual-chain design not only leverages Ethereum's DeFi ecosystem, but also leverages the advantages of XRP ledgers 'fast and low-cost payment network. RLUSD is issued under a trust license issued by the New York Department of Financial Services.
The XRP community has long had limited access to complex DeFi strategies, but Flare is laying the foundation for XRPNative Finance (XRPFi) through FXRP and a growing integrated ecosystem. Flare is also advancing the ability to cast FXRP directly from the XRP ledger to Ethereum, which will eliminate the need for a separate cross-chain bridge step and make the process faster.
Currently, the infrastructure is in place. As one of the largest assets in the crypto space, XRP has been idle for years. Connecting it to the on-chain credit market is the beginning of changing this situation.
