The U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF had net inflows for five consecutive days, and the previous week of demand reversed in August.
At the beginning of August, the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF had attracted a total of US$853.5 million in net inflows for five consecutive trading days. Strong demand reversed the net outflow trend of the previous week.
Summary
Bitcoin ETF achieved net inflows for five consecutive days from August 3 to 7. According to data, the total net inflow this week was approximately US$853.5 million. Inflows in the first five days of August were nearly five times the July total ($172.4 million). During the same period, the Ethereum ETF also added a net inflow of US$244.9 million.
Bitcoin ETF fund inflows reversed the previous week's outflow
The U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF recorded a net inflow of US$170.1 million on August 3, which increased to US$211.5 million on August 4. Inflows further expanded to US$244.4 million on August 5, making it the strongest trading day of the week. Subsequently, net inflows were approximately US$128.8 million and US$98.85 million on August 6 and August 7, respectively. The total net inflow over the five trading days was approximately US$853.5 million (due to slight differences in rounding). Compared with the net outflow of US$61.5 million last week, the flow of funds reversed by approximately US$915 million. This continuous inflow occurred after fluctuations in late July. It was previously reported that investors withdrew approximately US$265 million from these funds on July 31, of which BlackRock's IBIT had a net outflow of US$123 million on the day, and Fidelity's FBTC recorded a net outflow of US$54.8 million.
BlackRock contributes most of Bitcoin ETF demand
In the continuous inflow in August, BlackRock remained the largest source of new demand. IBIT attracted approximately US$693 million in five trading days, accounting for approximately 81% of total net inflows in the category. On August 7 alone, the fund increased by $86.71 million. Fidelity's FBTC followed closely with a net inflow of $40.95 million. Bitwise's BitB and ARK21 Shares 'ARKB had net inflows of $2.11 million and $1.94 million respectively. These inflows offset a $19.37 million outflow from Invesco and Galaxy's BTCO, a $10.55 million outflow from Van Eyck's HODL, and a $2.94 million outflow from Hashdex's DEFI. As of the close on August 7, the total net assets of the spot Bitcoin ETF reached US$79.5 billion, accounting for approximately 6.10% of Bitcoin's market value. The cumulative net inflow since its launch reached US$52.18 billion, and the transaction volume on the day was approximately US$1.57 billion.
The net inflow in the first five days of August totaled US$853.5 million, which was nearly five times the total for the entire month of July (approximately US$172.4 million), which was approximately 395% higher than the full month of July.
Ethereum ETF's net inflow this week was US$244.9 million
The U.S. spot Ethereum ETF also performed strongly, attracting approximately US$244.9 million in net inflows between August 3 and 7. The product initially had a net outflow of US$11.42 million on August 3, followed by a net inflow of US$53.75 million on August 4, and a net inflow of US$60.86 million on August 5. Net inflows increased to US$92.15 million on August 6 and fell back to US$49.6 million on August 7. Previous reports pointed out that the inflow of funds on August 6 coincided with the price of Ethereum remaining above $1900 and approaching the psychological barrier of $2000. BlackRock's ETHA dominated most demand, with net inflows of US$50.34 million, US$81.14 million and US$38.15 million on August 5, 6 and 7 respectively. The total net assets of the Ethereum ETF are approximately US$10.74 billion, accounting for 4.65% of the market value of Ethereum. Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs combined attracted nearly $1.1 billion this week.
Other cryptocurrency ETFs have limited inflows
Similar demand has not emerged in the smaller cryptocurrency ETF category. HYPE products recorded moderate positive inflows, including approximately $1 million on August 5 and approximately $2.84 million on August 6. The overall XRP fund was slightly negative, with a net outflow of US$3.58 million on August 5, offsetting the net inflow of US$1.15 million on August 3. The Solana ETF was basically flat, with a net inflow of US$1 million on August 4, but a net outflow of US$859,500 on August 6, which roughly offset the two. These differences suggest that regulated crypto investment demand in the first week of August remained concentrated on Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Despite continued inflows of funds, the price of Bitcoin remained below $65000. It is reported that ETF demand supports the front line of US$64000, but has not yet formed an effective breakthrough.
